Former Senator Opines on the Incredible Corruption in America and the Fourth Branch of Government

On a more personal level, how can public service be promoted as an ideal to young people when this sewer corrupts our Republic? At this point in early twenty-first-century America, the greatest service our nation’s young people could provide is to lead an army of outraged young Americans armed with brooms on a crusade to sweep out the rascals and rid our capital of the money changers, rent seekers, revolving door dancers, and special interest deal makers and power brokers and send them back home to make an honest living, that is, if they still remember how to do so.
Our ancestors did not depart Europe and elsewhere to seek freedom and self-government alone. They came to these shores to escape social and political systems that were corrosive and corrupt. Two and a quarter centuries later, we are returning to those European practices. We are in danger of becoming a different kind of nation, one our founders would not recognize and would deplore.
In addition to the rise of the national security state, and the concentration of wealth and power in America, no development in modern times sets usAPART more from the nation originally bequeathed to us than the rise of the special interest state. There is a Gresham’s law related to the republican ideal. Bad politics drives out good politics. Legalized corruption drives men and women of stature, honor, and dignity out of the halls of government. Self-respecting individuals cannot long tolerate a system of election and reelection so dependent on cultivating the favor of those known to expect access in return. Such a system is corrosive to the soul.
– From the Gary Hart article, Gary Hart: America’s Founding Principles Are in Danger of Corruption
A former senator from Colorado, Gary Hart, has written an extremely powerful and accurate critique of the unfathomably corrupt and crony state of the U. S. government in 2015. It covers several very important angles, including how appalled and disgusted our founders would be at the current state of affairs. How a once great republic has devolved into a thieving oligarchy in which the pursuit of money at power at the expense of the public good has been elevated into something that’s not just tolerated, but actually celebrated and encouraged amongst an ethics deprived status quo.
Don’t take it from me though, here are several of my favorite excerpts:

The Most Dangerous Mountain In The United States: What Would Happen If Mt. Rainier Erupted?

Is the next major volcanic eruption in the United States just around the corner? Mount St. Helens and the Yellowstone supervolcano get most of the attention, but many geologists are actually far more concerned about the potential danger that Mt. Rainier poses. It has been called a ‘time bomb’, ‘the most dangerous mountain in the United States’ and ‘one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world’ due to its proximity to major population centers. Scientists tell us that it is a matter of if, not when, the next eruption will happen, and even a minor eruption could result in tens of thousands of Americans being literally buried alive in super-heated mud. So what would a full-blown eruption do? It would potentially cause death and destruction on a scale that is almost unimaginable.
On May 18th, 1980, Mount St. Helens erupted with the power of 500 Hiroshima bombs. At the time, very few scientists anticipated that Mount St. Helens was capable of such a powerful eruption. But Mount St. Helens is not even the most dangerous volcano in the state of Washington. If Mount Rainier were to erupt with the same force that Mount St. Helens erupted in 1980, the loss of life would be far, far greater. The following comes from Wikipedia…

Brady Center Loses BIG

Heh heh heh…..
A federal judge has ordered that the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence pay the legal fees of an online ammunition dealer it sued for the Aurora movie theater shooting.
The order, which was issued last week, comes after Judge Richard P. Matsch dismissed the gun control group’s suit that sought to hold Lucky Gunner legally responsible for the 2012 shooting. The Brady Center had argued in their suit that the way Lucky Gunner sells ammunition is ‘unreasonably dangerous and create a public nuisance.’
The judge found that the Brady Center filed the lawsuit and elected where to file it as a means of attempting to further the political purposes of the Brady Center, which is not a permitted use of the courts.
So not only did he dismiss the suit he ordered them to pay the respondent’s (Lucky Gunner) legal costs, which is not going to be cheap.
Two thumbs way up.

New Thousand Page Pentagon War Manual Potentially Lumps Journalists in with ‘Unprivileged Belligerents’

A 1,176 page Pentagon war manual was recently released that hasn’t received the attention it deserves. The book of combat instructions, titled ‘Department of Defense Law of War Manual,’ apparently covers rules of war for all branches of the U. S. military.
One passage in particular is generating controversy, where journalists seem to be thrown into a convoluted and opaque category, in which they could be seen as ‘unprivileged belligerents’ as opposed to civilians. Naturally, this has sparked concern that journalists the U. S. government doesn’t like could be lumped into the ‘unprivileged belligerents’ category and subsequently murdered at will. The Washington Times covered this story, here are a few excerpts:

Predictable: DHS and FBI Warn Against Possible 4th of July Terror Attacks

Apparently ‘they’ still hate us for our freedom.
According to USA Today, despite any specific, credible threat (as usual), local law enforcement agencies across the country have been warned about the potential for possible terror attacks this Independence Day.
An intelligence bulletin issued jointly by Homeland Security and the FBI noted ongoing threats from ISIS and ‘other homegrown extremists,’ though the official quoted in the article was not named because he was ‘not authorized to comment publicly’ (even though he obviously was commenting publicly, again as usual).
Oh, and DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson just wants people to ‘remain vigilant’. (Again… as usual. Aren’t they bored with this script yet?)

TRIPLE TERROR ATTACK: What’s Behind the Events in France, Tunisia and Kuwait?

The triple terror attacks seen in France, Tunisia and Kuwait appear to mark another set of tragic events. However, when you peel back the media hysteria, all three of the alleged ISIS related incidents raise quite a bit of suspicion …
The French Connection
The French BRI, who are are an elite law enforcement unit of the French Ministry of the Interior, have been known to monitor suspects prior to a crime taking place. This echoes a similar investigative tactic in the US, as the FBI has often been linked to a person or persons before an alleged attack through lengthy surveillance protocols. A primary example of this wasthe series of events that unfolded in Garland, Texas.
Back in May, the anti-Islamic media personality Pamela Geller, who is the president of the well-funded organization, the American Freedom Defense Initiative, organized a Prophet Mohammed drawing contest in Garland, Texas. The event allegedly became a target of two ‘ISIS inspired’ shooters. However, it was quickly revealed that the FBI had known at least one of the apparent shooters well before the apparent attack.
As we previously outlined here at 21WIRE, Elton Simpson, one of perpetrators listed in the Garland fiasco, had been under the watchful eye of the FBI for nearly a decade and was in close contact with an undercover informant during that time.
Fast forward to the recent attack in France…

The TPP, Dylann Roof, and Rainbow Flags

It’s been quite the last couple of weeks. Much has happened. And most people don’t even know the half of it.
What we keep hearing is that the Confederate flag is being taken down. And the Rainbow flag is being raised. (Wedding planners and divorce lawyers, we’re sure, are celebrating hard over the latter.)
Now, we are your biggest advocates for equal human rights. We believe, of course, in individual rights for all people and equality before the law. So the recent Supreme Court ruling, we say, is a success for liberty.
And the Charleston shooting was, of course, an unbelievably evil tragedy.
And, sure, we’re not against having a debate about what the Confederate flag represents. There’s always more we can learn about American history. But we believe that it’s taking our attention away, first, from the tragedy itself. And it’s also distracting us from what the snakes are up to on the Hill.
And, boy are they taking advantage of this lapse of attention.
Before we dig into what’s happening in Washington D. C., let’s see what’s missing from the Charleston conversation…
First, as mentioned, in the midst of the flag debate, we’ve lost sight of the tragedy from which this debate spawned.
Instead of keeping the spotlight on Dylann Roof, the lone individual who committed the act of terror, many mainstream media sources are on their knees, furiously blowing the glistening coals of racial conflict.
And while most keep their eyes fixated on the fire, several agendas are being played out – right now – right under our noses. Agendas that hurt us all – regardless of our skin pigmentation – far more than they help…
For one, the political-media alliance is busy teaching Americans to ignore the problem of tyranny – and to blame the symptoms of a government-gone-rogue on a lack of safety.
The militarization of the police and Jade Helm – both of which we’ve covered here in our digital leaves – are only two examples of this overreach.
Also, this unholy alliance is teaching Americans to ignore its country’s rampant mental health issues and to, instead, blame our ills on guns. (Meanwhile, if this is any indication of where the gun grab leads: Britain is working on banning knives… knives!)
Guns, we ask? But what of Big Pharma’s chemical cocktails? Why isn’t the same amount of cyber ink spilled about those concoctions? Dylann Roof wasn’t the only one loaded up on prescription-ready drugs before committing a horrific act against humanity.
According to the Citizens Commission on Human Rights International (CCHR), the mental health watchdog: ‘at least 35 school shootings and/or school-related acts of violence have been committed by those taking orwithdrawing from psychiatric drugs, resulting in 169 wounded and 79 killed. (In other school shootings, information about their drug use was never made public – neither confirming or refuting if they were under the influence of prescribed drugs).’

Russia Promises “Economic And Military” Aid To Syria As US Refloats Assad “Chemcial Weapons” Trial Balloon

It has been a while since the US State Department, with the help of the UK-funded and US-supported Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, floated doctored YouTube clips of hundreds of Syrians dead as a result of Assad’s chemical attacks. In fact, it has been almost exactly two years since the last time the US nearly launched an all out proxy war in Syria, one involving an axis of western powers and Qatar (whose natural gas this whole charade is all about) against another axis of Russia and China who were supportive of the Syrian government. Luckily, a last minute snafu by John Kerry allowed a de-escalation, which in turn resulted in the appearance of ISIS, whose entire purpose has been, as leaked Pentagon memos have revealed, to topple Assad.
And with collective memories short, and with the “diplomatic” playbook of the US State Department even shorter, the time has come to once again rekindle this particular fabulation.
Overnight the WSJ reported, in what may have been a far more pressing update than anything to do with Greece who ultimate fate has been known since 2010, that “U. S. intelligence agencies believe there is a strong possibility the Assad regime will use chemical weapons on a large scale as part of a last-ditch effort to protect key Syrian government strongholds if Islamist fighters and other rebels try to overrun them, U. S. officials said.”
Note: no facts this time, not even planted ones – just beliefs.
The WSJ adds that “analysts and policy makers have been poring over all available intelligence hoping to determine what types of chemical weapons the regime might be able to deploy and what event or events might trigger their use, according to officials briefed on the matter.”
But didn’t the US supervise Assad’s disposition of his chemical weapon stockpile two years ago as part of the military de-escalation? Nevermind, one needs a narrative and when creating fictions, facts are secondary.

KKK Leaflets Show up on LA Lawns; Another Part of the Race War Psyop?

‘Ku Klux Klan propaganda blankets Whittier neighborhood’ the LA Times declared Sunday.
Apparently the people of Whittier in Los Angeles County woke up yesterday morning to find leaflets advertising membership in a California chapter of the Klu Klux Klan on their front lawns.
According to the LA Times, people living on the 5400 block of Adele Avenue got an added bonus of a little cellophane bag with a piece of candy and a rock in it (likely to weight it down and keep it in the yard).
‘When I first read it, I thought it was a hoax,’ said Stella Paquin, a longtime Whittier resident who found the fliers on her front lawn.
But as she read the commentary on African Americans contained in the fliers – which included a phone number and mailing address for the Loyal White Knights of the Klu Klux Klan – she realized she was not the victim of a prank.
‘I have never heard or read anything that impacted me so much to think, ‘My goodness, there are just such hateful people,” Paquin said. ‘Whittier is a very quaint town. This really shocked us.’
Apparently the distribution of white supremacist propaganda also occurred in Orange County last week as well, so they’re really hitting this one up hard post-Charleston. A similar incident also took place earlier this year in Santa Ana on, of all days, Martin Luther King Jr. day.

Hillary Lucks Out; News on Emails She Failed to Turn over Got ‘Lost’ on Biggest News Day of the Year

Man, Hillary sure lucked out that this happened on the biggest news day of the year: via @slate
— Josh Voorhees (@JoshVoorhees) June 26, 2015

Yes, Hillary sure did luck out didn’t she?
News hit that, despite her promises that she turned over each and every email during her tenure as Secretary of State, the State Department found at least 15 emails Hillary Clinton did not turn over (via The New York Times):
The State Department said on Thursday that 15 emails sent or received by Hillary Rodham Clinton were missing from records that she has turned over, raising new questions about whether she deleted work-related emails from the private account she used exclusively while in office.
But, considering the news didn’t fully break until the same day that the Supreme Court upheld gay marriage and that’s all anyone was talking about that day in the mainstream press, no one likely even saw buried headlines about Hillary’s ‘lost’ emails.

Truth is a Crime Against The State – Paul Craig Roberts

The entire Western edifice rests on lies. There is no other foundation. Just lies.
This makes truth an enemy. Enemies have to be suppressed, and thus truth has to be suppressed.
Truth comes from foreign news sources, such as RT, and from Internet sites, such as this one.
Thus, Washington and its vassals are busy at work closing down independent media.
Washington and its vassals have redefined propaganda. Truth is propaganda if it is told by countries, such as Russia and China, that have independent foreign policies.
Propaganda is truth if told by Washington and its puppets, such as the EU Observer.
The EU Observer, little doubt following Washington’s orders, has denounced RT and Sputnik News for ‘broadcasting fabrications and hate speech from their bureaus in European Union cities.’
Often I appear on both RT and Sputnik. In my opinion both are too restrained in their reporting, fearful, of course, of being shut down, than full truth requires. I have never heard a word of hate speech or propaganda on either. Washington’s propaganda, perhaps, but not the Russian government’s.
In other words, the way Washington has the news world rigged, not even independent news sites can speak completely clearly.
The Western presstitutes have succeeded in creating a false reality for insouciant Americans and also for much of the European Union population.
A sizable percentage of these insouciant peoples believe that Russia invaded Ukranine and that Russia is threatening to invade the Baltic States and Poland. This belief exists despite all intelligence of all Western governments reporting that there is no sign of any Russian forces that would be required for invasion.
The ‘Russian invasion,’ like ‘Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction and al Qaeda connections,’ like ‘Assad of Syria’s use of chemical weapons against his own people,’ like ‘Iranian nukes,’ never existed but nevertheless became the reality in the Western media. The insouciant Western peoples believe in non-existent occurrencies.

Russian Proxy Forces Bring Down An F-16 In a Beta Test for World War III

Russian proxy forces, armed with Russian EMP technology are responsible for bringing down an F-16 piloted by an Iraqi general flying near the Mexican border. Russia has fired the first shots of World War III.
F-16 Crash at the Mexican Border
An Iraqi pilot who had been training in the United States for four years was flying an F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft that crashed in southern Arizona, a spokesman for the Iraqi defense minister said last Thursday. Brigadier General Rasid Mohammed Sadiq Hasan was alone in the F-16 Fighting Falcon when it went down during a training mission on Wednesday. The crash occurred near the Mexican border.
Not So Fast
On the surface this appears to be a tragic accident as an Iraqi pilot, who was our partner in our fight against ISIS, was tragically killed in an accident. In actuality, nothing could be further from the truth.
I have two confidential sources, one who is on the inside, and another who has connections to those on the inside and they are both independently saying the same thing. ‘The crash of this F-16 plane was no accident’. The circumstantial evidence forms a ‘preponderance of the evidence’ which supports the fact that Russia is ultimately responsible for the take down of this particular F-16.

Real Estate and the Number 30

Grasshoppers, Ants, Politicians and Central Bankers
(This is my reflection on the Greek tragedy that is unfolding before us.)
30 years – that is the most common term for a mortgage. 30 years – that is an approximation of the most productive years of an average human. 30s – that is about the age to start the activity known as household formation.
Housing, transportation and food, those are the three essential elements of life. Of the three, housing is the highest expense for most households in the US. However, once paid for, housing can maintain its utility value for a long time, unlike food that has be replenished and paid for every day anew. Once the house is paid for, all kinds of good things happen. If one manages the mid 30 years of one’s life wisely, then one can enjoy one’s golden years.

Does HSBC Know Something Other Banks Don’t?

Or Is It Just In Dire Financial Straits?
Global banking behemoth HSBC is not having a good 2015, despite celebrating its 150th anniversary. It has been implicated in even more scandals than usual, faces a 5% increase in dividend costs in its adopted home country, the UK, and has decided to lay off another 25,000 workers worldwide. It’s also selling off its Brazil and Turkey units and is even threatening to up sticks from the City of London and move its headquarters back to Hong Kong.
Which begs the question: why such drastic restructuring? More to the point, why now?
Back to the Past
According to HSBC, the move is aimed primarily at restoring investor confidence. Its decision to sell its operations in Turkey and Brazil forms part of a strategic reorientation toward East Asian markets, where HSBC originally cut its teeth 150 years ago (laundering the proceeds from the British East Indian company’s opium trade, as I documented here), and where margins are currently much higher than in Brazil and Turkey.

The War On Some Drugs

Submitted by Doug Casey via InternationalMan.com,
Drugs are a charged subject everywhere. Longtime readers know that although I personally abstain from drugs and generally eschew the company of users, I think they should be 100% legal.
Few people consider how arbitrary the current prohibition is; up until the 1920s, heroin and cocaine were both perfectly legal and easily obtainable over the counter. Some people ‘abused’ them, just like some today ‘abuse’ fat and sugar (because they’re enjoyable).
But drugs are no more of a problem than anything else; life is full of problems. In fact, life isn’t just full of problems; life is problems. What is a problem? It’s simply the situation of having to choose between two or more alternatives. Personally, I believe in people being free to choose, and I rigorously shun the company of people who don’t.
Hysteria and propaganda aside, the fact is that most recreational drugs pose less of a health problem than alcohol, nicotine, or simple lack of exercise.
Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes (of whom I’m a great fan) was an aficionado of opium products. Sigmund Freud enjoyed cocaine. Churchill is supposed to have drunk a quart of whiskey daily. Dr. William Halstead, father of modern surgery and cofounder of Johns Hopkins University, was a regular user throughout his long and illustrious career, which included inventing local anesthesia after injecting cocaine into his skin.
Insofar as recreational drugs present a problem, it arises partly from overuse, which is not only arbitrary, but can be true of absolutely anything. The problem comes, however, mainly from the fact that they’re illegal.

Russian forces ‘practiced invasion of Norway, Finland, Denmark and Sweden’ – tension mounts in Europe

June 2015 – EUROPE – Russian forces rehearsed the invasion of Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark during a military exercise involving 33,000 troops, according to a new study of Baltic security. The man oeuvres, which took place in March, assumed that a Western-backed uprising against President Vladimir Putin was taking place in Moscow. Under the scenario posited by the exercise, Russia responded by launching a simulated assault on four regional neighbors. Some troops practiced attacking Norway with the aim of seizing an area in the north of the country. Other Russian forces rehearsed the capture of the Aland Islands from Finland. More units drilled how to seize Gotland Island from Sweden and Bornholm Island from Denmark. These Baltic territories lie across vital shipping lanes, making them key military objectives. The capture of these islands would allow Russia to seal off the Baltic and isolate Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

California home prices plateau and sales fall: Inventory slowly rising in L.A. County and back in a big way for Orange County.

At the start of the year, discussing a year-over-year drop in California home prices seemed unrealistic. You can only defy gravity for so long and home prices for California are virtually unchanged year-over-year. The current median home price in the state is $396,750 up only 0.4 percent from last year and down 1.8 percent from the previous month. Sales are still low thanks to prices and the lack of inventory. California has seen a dramatic addition of rental households thanks to the current trend. The big question now with momentum tilting is where will it take home prices? California tends to do things in a big way with real estate since we perpetually go into a boom and bust cycle. Now with prices hitting a snag and inventory coming back you have to see how the media cycle is going to play into this. People are now used to prices moving up so quickly as if this was some law of nature. Los Angeles County is seeing normal inventory returning while Orange County is seeing a big jump in inventory. Let us take a look at the numbers.
California home prices hit a plateau
Since 2012 California home prices have gone in one direction only. California home prices have nearly doubled in a short period from a lower range of $221,000 (2009), staying steady until 2012 and then jumping to $404,000 (last month). The peak was $484,000 reached in 2007. A large portion of this price movement has come from investors buying up single family homes and removing them from inventory.

Top German Politician Blasts Nuland & Carter: “F##k US Imperialism”

With intra-Europe relations hitting a new all-time low; and, having already been busted spying on Merkel, Obama got caught with his hand in Hollande’s cookie jar this week, the following exultation from one of Germany’s top politicians will hardly help Washington-Brussells relations. As Russia Insider notes, Oskar Lafontaine is a major force in German politics so it caught people’s attention when he excoriated Ash Carter and Victoria Nuland on his Facebook page yesterday… “Nuland says ‘F*ck the EU’. We need need an EU foreign policy that stops warmongering US imperialism… F*ck US imperialism!”
