Russia Begins Bombing Campaign Against ISIS in Syria

Early this morning, Russia’s parliament gave their military permission to launch airstrikes against ISIS targets in Syria. Within hours, bombs fell near the Syrian city of Homs, which was followed by multiple attacks across the country. The airstrikes destroyed military equipment, munitions, and vehicles belonging to the Islamic group. The US is now crying foul over the incident, because apparently, the forces that Russia refers to as ‘ISIS’ are merely moderate rebels to the US.
None of the attacks have occurred in areas that the West considers to be ISIS territory, which has led officials in France, Germany, and the US to chastise Russia for targeting opponents of the Assad regime, rather than ISIS.
