State-Sanctioned Theft – The Failed War On Drugs And Cops’ Abuse Of Civil Forfeiture

Submitted by Lorelei McFly via,
One of the biggest lies our government tells us is that it wages the War on Drugs to keep us safe. More than 40 years after it was started, we know that it has been a colossally-expensive epic failureon its stated goals, was intentionally designed to further disenfranchise marginalized groups, and has become a full-fledged assault on our civil liberties.
Even with all the billions of tax dollars it spends each year, and all the flashy photo ops of seized drugs stacked on tables, the Drug Enforcement Agency only stops 1% of the illegal drug supply from being distributed in America, according to the video below. Not only is law enforcement pathetically inept at stemming the flow of drugs, they are active participants in the illicit drug trade at both the federal and local level:

The hypocrisy of the Obama administration and their left wing lunatic minions is breathtaking to behold. They call Trump a demagogue for suggesting that we keep illegals from pouring over our border and swamping our social safety net system by building a wall. But they think it makes total sense to build up the wall around the White House to keep the riff raff out.
Tear down that wall Mr. Obama. Give the citizens of this country free access to your house like you give them free access to my taxes. You fancy yourself as a modern day Lincoln. Americans could enter the White House during his presidency with ease.
Secret Service Plans to Raise White House Fence by 5 Feet
The U. S. Secret Service plans to raise the height of the White House security fence by 5 feet and add a new concrete foundation to reduce the risk of fence-jumpers, according to a copy of an agency report obtained by the News4 I-Team.
The agency, along with the National Park Service, said it intends to begin building a ‘taller, stronger’ fence to protect the White House grounds by 2018.
Details of the plan were included in an audio recording of a briefing made by federal officials, which was released to the I-Team Wednesday. The same briefing is expected to be presented May 5 at a meeting of the National Capital Planning Commission, which must first approve any changes to White House fencing.

When Sergeant 1st Class Charles Martland learned that a young boy had been raped by a powerful Afghan police commander (who had been trained by the U. S. military), he knew that he had to do something. The higher-ups encouraged him to let it go, saying that it was just part of the culture in Afghanistan, and that the local authorities would handle it. Instead, Martland and his team leader Daniel Quinn, approached the police commander and physically attacked him after he admitted to the rape and laughed about it.

UPS Braces For $3.8 Billion Charge As Treasury’s Pension Benefit Decision Looms

As we covered previously, in an effort to remain solvent the Central States Pension Fund has submitted an application to the Treasury for approval to cut member benefits. While some plan participants could see pension incomes cut in half, the fund projects that it will become insolvent by 2025 if nothing is done.
Treasury is set to decide on the matter by May 7th, and as it turns out, the decision impacts more than just current plan participants…
During its Q1 earnings call, UPS told investors that if Treasury approves the CSPF plan to cut benefits, the company would have to take a charge of approximately $3.2 to $3.8 billion. As part of a collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters when UPS withdrew from the fund in 2007, the company agreed to provide supplemental benefits to any remaining members in the event that certain benefits were lawfully reduced.

NATO reportedly plans to send 4 battalions to eastern border with Russia

April 2016 – POLAND – NATO allies reportedly plan to put four battalions in Poland and other Baltic countries to beef up its Russian border as Moscow steps up military activity. According to The Wall Street Journal Friday, U. S. Deputy Defense Secretary Robert Work confirmed the overall size of the force – about 4,000 troops per battalion – and said the reinforcements were a response to the increased Russian activity around the nations of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Western officials told the paper that the U. S. will likely provide two of the battalions and Germany and Britain will likely supply the other two.
‘The Russians have been doing a lot of snap exercises right up against the borders, with a lot of troops,’ Work said. ‘From our perspective, we could argue this is extraordinarily provocative behavior.’ Russia has repeatedly defended its increased military activity, saying they are a response to NATO’s buildup and aggressiveness toward Moscow. NATO officials said they want to make sure the force is as multinational as possible and are asking smaller allied countries to make contributions to supporting forces. Officials said Germany’s role is particularly important because their Russian deterrence cements Berlin’s role as a major player in NATO.

Escalation of tensions: China blocks U.S. Navy flotilla’s visit to Hong Kong

April 2016 – HONG KONG – The Chinese government on Thursday denied a Navy flotilla access to the port in Hong Kong, Pentagon officials said Friday, the latest sign of escalating tension between the United States and China. The rare refusal to allow the aircraft carrier John C. Stennis, and several other vessels accompanying it, to visit the port comes two weeks after the Stennis hosted the defense secretary, Ashton B. Carter, on a visit to the South China Sea, where the United States is challenging what it sees as excessive maritime claims by China.
During the trip, Mr. Carter criticized the Chinese and said the United States would work with its allies in the region. ‘America’s policy continues to be one valued on principles of peaceful resolutions of disputes, lawful settlement of things like territorial disputes like the South China Sea, or anywhere else, freedom of navigation, freedom of commerce,’ Mr. Carter said at the time.
The denial was the first time the Chinese government had refused to allow an American aircraft carrier into the port in Hong Kong since August 2014, according to Pentagon officials. The Navy had asked the Chinese to let the Stennis and accompanying vessels visit the port next week, the officials said. There is currently a United States Navy ship in port in Hong Kong, the Blue Ridge, Kristin Haworth, a spokeswoman for the American Consulate in Hong Kong, said by telephone. The Blue Ridge is the command ship of the United States Seventh Fleet. ‘We have a long track record of successful visits to Hong Kong, including the U. S. S. Blue Ridge, and we expect that to continue,’ she said. American naval vessels are frequent visitors to Hong Kong, regarded as one of the most desirable ports of call because of its night life and shopping.

Reality is not immortal

One way or another, 99.99999999% of the world’s spiritual systems get around to denying individual power. Eventually, they all proclaim that power is coming from someplace else. It’s so convenient to say so. It’s such a gigantic lie, most people buy it. They love buying it.
Whereas: Reality is an elastic substance pretending to be immortal.
And: Reality is waiting for imagination to revolutionize it down to its core.
Where do people store ideas about their potential – a potential of power that vastly outstrips anything the spiritual systems of Earth have mentioned or speculated about? People store all that knowledge in the place where they believe it belongs:
The imagination.
The place where all ‘impossible things’ should go.
So if we want to find those things again and wake them up, we need imagination.
Otherwise, we live the average life. We range between vaguely ‘normal’ and vaguely ‘abnormal.’ Along a tiny piece of the spectrum.

Bernie Sanders’ Wife: “It Would be Nice If The FBI Moved Along Hillary’s Email Probe”

For the past year, Republicans had been pushing both the US Department of Justice and the FBI to move faster in their ongoing Hillary Clinton email probe, although as has been revealed recently, said probe is mostly being throttled by the DOJ allegedly for political reasons while the FBI, having scented blood, is eager to unveil its evidence against the frontrunning Democratic presidential candidate. Just last week, confirming there is indeed much bad blood between the two government agencies, senator Chuck Grassley who chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee implied that one way the FBI may avoid the DOJ’s stonewalling, is to “leak”, hypothetically-speaking of course, reports of its investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
As we reported last weekend, in practically laying out the next steps in Hillarygate, Grassley said “an anonymous and unauthorized release of FBI investigative materials could result if officials at the agency believed prosecution of Clinton was stymied for political reasons” according to the Des Moines register.
This may well happen as we get close to the nomination and the DOJ still refuses to unveil publicly the FBI’s findings.

Syria: MSF Admits Withholding Syria Hospital Coordinates from Damascus and Moscow

Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) does not provide GPS coordinates of health facilities it supports in Syria to either Damascus or Moscow over fears of ‘deliberate’ attacks, the medical charity said, blaming a recent strike on ‘probably’ Syrian or Russian forces.
‘We gave to the Russian ambassadors in Paris [and] in Geneva coordinates for three hospitals located in very intense conflict zones, but not for all of them, and it was a decision taken together with the medical staff of the health facilities that we support,’ said MSF operations director Isabelle Defourny.
At least 25 people were killed, including nine medical personnel and 16 patients, when airstrikes destroyed a hospital supported by MSF. Ten others were wounded when four missiles reportedly struck the hospital initially at around 9:00am local time Monday, according to accounts provided by medical staff on site. Forty minutes later, after rescuers arrived, the hospital was allegedly bombed again.
According to MSF, the coordinates had not been shared with the authorities or relevant Russian representatives because of safety concerns that were voiced by doctors operating in Syria.
‘The staff of the hospital [and] the director of the hospital didn’t know if they would be better protected if they give the GPS or not,’ Defourny said.

Oil’s Latest Casualty: Saudi Binladin Group Fires 50,000 Workers, A Quarter Of Its Workforce

In the latest clear sign that low oil prices are taking their indirect toll not only the US shale sector, leading to billions in capex cuts and hundreds of thousands of lost oil and gas jobs, on Friday Saudi newspaper al-Watan reported that the multinational construction conglomerate Saudi Binladin Gropu (which was founded in 1931 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Laden Sayyid, father of Osama bin Laden who was removed as a shareholder in the business in 1993 and disowned by the family) has laid off 50,000 staff as pressure on the industry rises amid government spending cuts to survive an era of cheap oil.
This means that Binladin, one of Saudi Arabia’s biggest firms and among the Middle East’s largest builders, whose total workforce is around 200,000 just fired a quarter of its total staff.
Reuters adds, citing al-Watan’s unnamed sources, that the group has terminated the contracts of 50,000 workers – apparently all foreigners – and given them permanent exit visa to leave the kingdom. However, the workers have refused to leave the country without getting paid as some had not received wages for more than four months. Furthermore, they were protesting in front of the Binladin’s offices in the country almost daily, the paper added.
What is most disturbing is that one of the biggest companies in Saudi Arabia if the not the Middle East, has had a series of pay disputes with workers this year as it appears unable to fund payroll. In March, scores of workers gathered outside one of the company’s office in Saudi Arabia to demand unpaid wages.

‘Unfortunately there are certain stars who won’t do what we want…’
Sounds kind of like Prince, doesn’t it?
The phrase ‘Simpsons did it’ has become a something of a joke, because in the nearly 30 years the cartoon has been on air, it has seemingly predicted a host of events, including the 9/11 attacks.
Now, it seems, The Simpsons is making headlines once again for predicting another sinister turn of events… Prince’s assassination.

Congress moves to require women to register for military draft

April 2016 – WASHINGTON – House lawmakers took a large step toward putting female soldiers on the front lines on Wednesday, approving legislation requiring women to register for the draft. Members of the House Armed Services committee passed the measure as part of the panel’s version of the defense spending bill for fiscal year 2017, according to the Associated Press.
After a lengthy, and at times heated debate, the legislation only passed by a slim two vote margin with the bill’s main sponsor California Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter actually voting against the measure during the House defense spending bill markup on Wednesday. Hunter, along with former SEAL and Montana Republican Rep. Ryan Zinke, initially proposed the plan to require women to register for the draft in February, shortly after the Pentagon lifted its ban on female service members from serving in combat infantry units and special operations forces.

US-Created System In Iraq Is Collapsing: Protesters Storm Parliament, State of Emergency Declared – Live Webcast

Less than two years ago, the US set up another puppet government in the mid-east this time in the state of Iraq when following substantial US pressure, on August 14, 2014 then prime minister al-Maliki agreed to stepped down and be replaced with Haider al-Abadi. Today, the regime is in chaos and the system set up in Iraq by the US is collapsing when protesters loyal to popular Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr breached the heavily fortified Green Zone, home to government buildings and foreign embassiesm and stormed the Iraqi parliament, forcing MPs to flee and resulting in a state of emergency being declared for all of Baghdad.
As can be seen in the photo (and live webcast below), hundreds of demonstrators occupied the country’s parliament. Video from inside the building showed jubilant crowds waving Iraqi flags and shouting “peaceful, peaceful.” Supporters of Sadr, whose fighters once controlled swaths of Baghdad and helped defend the capital from ISIS, have been demonstrating for weeks at the gates of the Green Zone, responding to their leader’s call to pressure the government to reform.

The Covenantal Wealth of Nations

Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store . . . The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee . . . And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee (Deut. 28:4-5, 8, 11).
The previous passage cited a long list of curses. We now come to a passage devoted entirely to God’s sanctions in history. The theocentric focus of this passage is God as the sanctions-bringer. In response to Israel’s covenantal obedience (Deut. 28:1-2), God promised to bring blessings on the nation. These blessings would include wealth. Deuteronomy 28 is a recapitulation of Leviticus 26. It announces dual sanctions: blessing and cursing. The chapter begins with blessing; it ends with cursing. The section on cursing is much longer than the section on blessing.
This was not a land law. The entire passage is not a land law. Modern commentators who reject theonomy regard this passage as a land law, although they may use some other term to describe it. They do not acknowledge that these threatened corporate sanctions carry into the New Covenant. They are incorrect. These sanctions are historical. They are predictable. Covenantal rebellion by a society will lead to God’s imposition of these sanctions. This is why this passage and Leviticus 26 are among the most important in the Bible — I believe the most important — for the creation of an explicitly biblical social theory.
These promises related to measurable quantities – “increase,” “plenteous” — of specific goods: cattle, kine, sheep. “increase” here referred to storage implements: basket, storehouses. The numerical objectivity of these reference points is crucial for this passage. These were not inward blessings. The fulfillment of these covenantal promises, Moses told the nation, will be visible to the Israelites and their enemies alike They will serve as evidence of God’s sovereignty over history through the predictability of His covenant relationships.
Visible Testimony Under the Mosaic Covenant
The blessings and cursings of God under the Mosaic Covenant were sure. They were not disconnected from God’s law. There was a bedrock objectivity that united covenant-keepers and covenant-breakers. That which God regarded as a blessing, He told Israel, all men would regard as a blessing; the same was true of cursing. There was a shared universe of discourse and evaluation. This objectivity was not undermined by subjective evaluations by individuals or groups. The lists in Deuteronomy 28 were based on an agreement among subjective evaluators. The subjectivism of individual perception would not overcome the objectivity of the corporate sanctions. The nation would enjoy more

The Oligarchy Is Tottering – Trump Tramples The Neocons’ “False Song Of Globalism”

The reaction to GOP frontrunner Donald Trump’s much-awaited foreign policy speech from the Washington elites was all-too-predictable: they sneered and snickered that he had mispronounced ‘Tanzania.’ The more substantive criticisms weren’t much better: perpetual warmonger Lindsey Graham, whose presidential bid garnered zeropercent in the polls, tweeted ‘Trump’s FP speech not conservative. It’s isolationism surrounded by disconnected thought, demonstrates lack of understanding threats we face.’ For Graham, anything less than starting World War III is ‘isolationism’ – a view that gives us some insight into why his presidential campaign was the biggest flop since the ‘new’ Coke. This is the party line of neoconservatives who have long dominated Republican foreign policy orthodoxy, to the GOP’s detriment. Neocon character assassin Jamie Kirchick, writing in the European edition of Politico, put a new gloss on it by claiming to detect a Vast Kremlin Conspiracy as the animating spirit behind the Trump campaign.
Which just goes to show that having Roy Cohn as your role model can lead one down some pretty slimy rabbit holes. I guess that’s why the editors of Politico put Kirchick’s smear piece in the European edition, where hardly anyone will read it, saving a morereasonable analysis by Jacob Heilbrunn for the US version.(Although, to be sure, apiece by neocon-friendly Michael Crowley limns the same McCarthyite theme inPolitico’s magazine.)
Heilbrunn is the editor of The National Interest, publication of the Nixon Center, which has been a sanctuary for the outnumbered – but now rising – ‘realist’ school of foreign policy analysts. The Trump speech was sponsored by TNI, and Heilbrunn gave a very interesting if somewhat defensive explanation for the motives behind their invitation to Trump, succinctly summarizing its significance:
‘His speech did not deviate from the themes he has already enunciated and it showed that he is willing to go very far indeed. Nothing like this has been heard from a Republican foreign policy candidate in decades. Trump doesn’t want to modify the party’s foreign policy stands. He’s out to destroy them.’
