The US’ Suicidal Strategy On Ukraine

Ukraine is back in the news cycle and for good reason. The cease-fire has broken, fighting is intensifying, and the western-supported and installed leadership in Kiev is losing the campaign. At this point, the West’s choice is to either double down and bet even more on a badly failing set of policies, or admit it has lost this round and seek to deescalate the situation.
Meanwhile, Europe has finally woken up to the risks and seems to be ready to carve out a different path than the US. A lot hinges on the high level talks that are currently underway between Russia and Europe’s leaders.
As the President Hollande of France put it on Feb 7th, “If we don’t find not just a compromise but a lasting peace agreement, we know perfectly well what the scenario will be. It has a name, it’s called war.”
He’s not simply referring to an escalation of the factions fighting within Ukraine. He’s warning about the real deal: a wider conflict that could easily spread into Europe, and possibly, the embroil powers across the world.
A Recipe For Unrest
As I’ve written previously, the West, especially the US, was instrumental in toppling the democratically-elected President of Ukraine back in February 2014. US officials were caught on tape plotting the coup, and then immediately supported the hastily-installed and extremist officials that now occupy the Kiev leadership positions.
In short, the crisis in Ukraine was not the result of Russia’s actions, but the West’s. Had the prior President, Yanukovych, not been overthrown, it’s highly unlikely that Ukraine would be embroiled in a nasty civil war. Relations between Russia and the West would be in far better repair.

Visualizing The World’s Greatest Fears

What are the greatest fears by country? Throughout the world, people are concerned about very different things – from inequality to AIDS and from nuclear war to religious hatred…
By region, North Americans and Europeans are generally most fearful of inequality. However, each other region had their own number one perceived fear. Africans, not surprisingly, were most afraid of AIDS and other diseases. South Americans were most afraid of nuclear warfare and Asians were most afraid of pollution and environmental concerns. Lastly, people in the Middle East were most concerned about religious and ethnic hatred.
Culture and history also makes the fears of specific countries to be more heightened. More than half of Lebanese people (58%) fear religious and ethnic hatred the most. 49% of Japanese people most fear nuclear weapons. In Spain, where 51.4% of youth are unemployed, it is not surprising that 54% of Spanish people fear inequality the most. Spain is also where the fear of inequality has grown the fastest – it has increased 27% in the last seven years.

Did Loretta Lynch Help HSBC Escape Justice in ‘Drugs and Terror’ Money-Laundering Case?

21st Century Wire says…
As 21WIRE reported previously, Loretta Lynch is the White House’s new candidate to replace the outgoing Eric Holder as US Attorney General. Her record in prosecuting dubious ‘terror’ cases should be scrutinized as they appear to support the the FBI’s use of entrapment and torturing suspects to gain confessions and other self-incriminating ‘intel’, as was the case with Mahdi Hashi. Lynch also appears to have also played a role in validating some questionable information which was used to frame the British-Somalian man as a ‘chemical weapons’ expert.
Add to this the BCCI-like case of HSBC and its role in enabling money laundering for some of the globe’s biggest criminal, terror and vice cartels – and Lynch’s involvement in allowing some of the responsibly parties to slip through the net of justice.
Breitbart adds here: ‘In December 2012, ABC News’s Brian Ross, Matthew Mosk and Carlos Boettcher reported that HSBC Bank ‘will avoid a potentially crippling criminal prosecution for its role in moving cash for known terror groups, Mexican drug cartels, and rogue governments such as Iran’ because Justice Department officials instead agreed to assess a $2 billion settlement against the bank.’
Lynch, the U. S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, is quoted in that article as saying HSBC didn’t act on’numerous red flags and warnings about the money laundering risks.’
Of course, no one from HSBC actually went to prison or faced any criminal charges for the biggest laundering scandal since the BCCI, and this is down to ‘Lynch’s and others’ efforts.’

USGS Reports 6.8 Magnitude Earthquake In Russia Near Ukraine Border, Then Retracts It Blaming “Mislocation”

Something surprising happened about an hour ago: at 2:15 pm, the USGS reported that a major 6.8 Magnitude earthquake had taken place in Russian territory, 16 kilometers WNW of Klintsy, in a location that is close to the Russian border with both Belarus and Ukraine.
Reuters was quick to report the earthquake:

Vaccine Controversy Shows Why We Need Markets, Not Mandates

If I were still a practicing ob-gyn and one of my patients said she was not going to vaccinate her child, I might try to persuade her to change her mind. But, if I were unsuccessful, I would respect her decision. I certainly would not lobby the government to pass a law mandating that children be vaccinated even if the children’s parents object. Sadly, the recent panic over the outbreak of measles has led many Americans, including some self-styled libertarians, to call for giving government new powers to force all children to be vaccinated.
Those who are willing to make an ‘exception’ to the principle that parents should make health care decisions for their children should ask themselves when in history has a ‘limited’ infringement on individual liberty stayed limited. By ceding the principle that individuals have the right to make their own health care decisions, supporters of mandatory vaccines are opening the door for future infringements on health freedom.
If government can mandate that children receive vaccines, then why shouldn’t the government mandate that adults receive certain types of vaccines? And if it is the law that individuals must be vaccinated, then why shouldn’t police officers be empowered to physically force resisters to receive a vaccine? If the fear of infections from the unvaccinated justifies mandatory vaccine laws, then why shouldn’t police offices fine or arrest people who don’t wash their hands or cover their noses or mouths when they cough or sneeze in public? Why not force people to eat right and take vitamins in order to lower their risk of contracting an infectious disease? These proposals may seem outlandish, but they are no different in principle from the proposal that government force children to be vaccinated.

In His Thirst for War, Senator Jim Inhofe Releases Fake Photos of Russian Troops in the Ukraine

Members of the Senate Armed Services Committee first viewed the graphic pictures in December. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R., Okla.) then obtained the photos and worked to independently verify and confirm the authenticity of the photos, before providing them exclusively to the Free Beacon.
Inhofe said he hopes the images act as a wake up call to the Obama administration and American people, who largely have been spared from seeing the graphic violence inflicted upon Ukraine by the Russian-backed separatists…
Following publication of this story, serious questions have been raised about the authenticity of some of the photographs provided by Sen. Jim Inhofe (R., Okla.). Several images of the Russian convoys appear to have been taken in 2008, during Russia’s conflict with Georgia. Given the similarities between the earlier images and those provided by the senator’s office, the Washington Free Beacon is investigating further and will update as necessary.
Sen. Inhofe said in a statement: ‘The Ukrainian parliament members who gave us these photos in print form as if it came directly from a camera really did themselves a disservice. We felt confident to release these photos because the images match the reporting of what is going on in the region. I was furious to learn one of the photos provided now appears to be falsified from an AP photo taken in 2008.
– From the Washington Free Beacon’s article: Updated: Provenance of Photos Showing Atrocities Questioned
This is absolutely incredible. Incredible.
First of all, I don’t claim to have any idea about what is happening in Ukraine. Many people out there feel obligated to pick a side, but I can promise you that 99% of them don’t actually have a clue. I don’t think there are many ‘goods guys’ on either side of this fight, and my assumption is that both sides are lying as much as possible. It’s a very sad situation, but very few people really knows what’s going on. That’s why I don’t comment on it much.
I wish I could say the same thing for United States Senators, you know, the people who actually play an important role in deciding when the country goes to war (that is, when Obama decides to consult them).
In his best attempt to impersonate war crazed Senator John McCain, Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma released photographic proof of Russian solders in Ukraine in order to push forward his bill to provide U. S. arms to Ukraine. Or so he thought…

The Untold Story Of A Ukrainian Sniper Who Took Part In The Maidan Massacre

One of the biggest mysteries surrounding the February 2014 US-staged coup in Ukraine and the violent overthrow of then president Yanukovich, is “who started shooting first” by which we, of course, refer to the lethal shooting escalation between the government’s police force and random snipers who conducted target practice with various citizens and officials of the law during the crackdown at the Euro Maidan square protests, which eventually escalated into all out violence whose culmination was the overthrow of the president.
In order to preserve the western narrative that the entire event was not one staged, massive, and very deadly false flag event, protest organisers have always denied any involvement. Which is why stories such as the one we wrote in March, which revealed that “Behind The Kiev Snipers It Was Somebody From The New Coalition” – A Stunning New Leak Released” got precisely zero traction in the western press.
But now, for the first time, one man has spoken up and told the BBC a different story. The story of “Sergei” does not answer all the questions, or even most of them. But it does shine a light on what elsehappened, what has not been reported in the western media until now, and why the events played out as they did.
It goes without saying, that since this is a story about Ukraine, one sourced by an anonymous Ukraine resident, and one which has been filtered by the establishment media, that everything below should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

FBI Documents Show Plot to Kill Occupy Leaders If ‘Deemed Necessary’ – Yet Details Are Kept From the Public…Why?

Paul Kennedy of the National Lawyers Guild in Houston and an attorney for a number of Occupy Houston activists arrested during the protests said he did not hear of the sniper plot and expressed discontent with the FBI’s failure to share knowledge of the plan with the public. He believed that the bureau would have acted if a ‘right-wing group’ plotted the assassinations, implying that the plan could have originated with law enforcement.
‘[I]f it is something law enforcement was planning,’ Kennedy said, ‘then nothing would have been done. It might seem hard to believe that a law enforcement agency would do such a thing, but I wouldn’t put it past them.’
He added that the phrase ‘if deemed necessary,’ which appeared in the bureau’s report, further suggests the possibility that some kind of official organization was involved in the plan.
– From the June 29, 2013 TruthDig article: Redacted FBI Documents Show Plot to Kill Occupy Leaders If ‘Deemed Necessary’
I don’t typically cover stories that are a few years old, but the following information is so interesting and disturbing I simply had to highlight it.
First a little background. Back in 2013, a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request resulted in the discovery of a FBI document that provided knowledge of a plot to assassinate leaders of the Houston chapter of Occupy Wall Street (OWS) using snipers.
Naturally, such a plot should be big news, but the FBI and local police departments have been extremely sheepish in answering questions about it. In addition, despite evidence of such a plot, the perpetrators were never arrested or identified. This is quite bizarre, and has rightly raised a lot of questions as to whether the government, or the local police force, were behind the potential hit. If this is indeed the case, you don’t need me to tell you how disturbing that is. After all, OWS was largely a non-violent movement.

Senator Inhofe Sponsors Ukraine Military Weapons Bill Based on Images of Russian Soldiers in Georgia in 2008

On February 11, US Senator Jim Inhofe authored a Bill to Arm Ukraine with Lethal Military Aid.
Mr. President I rise today to introduce my bill that authorizes the President to provide lethal weapons to the Government of Ukraine in order to defend itself against Russian-backed rebel separatists in eastern Ukraine.
On January 15, 2015, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated, ‘For several months we have seen the presence of Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, as well as a substantial increase in Russian heavy equipment such as tanks, artillery, and advanced air defense systems.’
These photographs were given to me by Lt Col Semen Semenchenko, the commander of Donbas Volunteer Assault Battalion and newly elected member of the parliament of Ukraine, during our meeting on 13 Nov last year.
The first set of pictures show Russian troops in T-72 tanks, BTR armored personnel carriers, and BMP infantry fighting vehicles entering eastern Ukraine, waiving Russian flags. This is not simply supporting separatists – it is an invasion of the Ukraine by Russia.
The second set of picture were taken by Ukrainian soldiers on the front line in eastern Ukraine.

Perhaps you didn’t know… Schools across the country are literally building solitary confinement cells for children.

What is ‘normal’? Is normalcy a condition of public acceptance to common trends & culture? Per it’s definition, normal is defined as conforming to a standard: usual, typical or expected.
If you accept normalcy by that definition then…
-it is normal for kids in our public school system to be locked in solitary confinement (4 – 4 padded cell) for misbehavior.
-it is normal for each state across the nation to have tens of thousands of cases of students being physically restrained. In some cases, even shackled using hand and ankle cuffs.
-it is normal for our police state to intervene with troublesome kids with use of physical beatings and pepper spray.
Perhaps you didn’t know… Schools across the country are literally building solitary confinement cells for children. They are very small, sometimes padded and have windowless walls with no contact to other children.

NATO’s Stoltenberg Claims “Documented Evidence” Of Russian Military Presence In Ukraine, OSCE Chief Says No

For the 4th time in February, NATO dispatched Typhoon jets to track a Russian Il-20 today over The Baltic Sea. However, as fighting rages in Ukraine – despite the apparent market excitement at a truce deal – today’s biggest news is NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s claims that his alliance hasevidence of Russian military presence in Ukraine, despite the ‘independent’ OSCE chief having stated he saw no Russian troops in Ukraine’s east. One wonders if NATO has YouTube proof like that of the American-accented fighter we recently noted.

Patriot Act 2: Obama Executive Order Will Promote Sharing Of Confidential Information With Corporations

Here come the “information sharing and analysis organizations”, or ISAOs.
* * *
In the aftermath of the Snowden whistleblowing scandal which has now all but been forgotten, there was a brief period when it seemed the growth of the US spying apparatus would be halted if not put into reverse. Those days are long forgotten and later today Obama is expected to to sign an executive order “that aims to make it easier for the government to share classified cyberthreat information with companies.”
The spin, as proposed by the WSJ, is that “this will be effort designed to spur collaboration and deter hackers, the White House said.” In reality what Obama’s latest executive order will do, is expand the universe of entities that has access to the trove of private confidential data contained in the vast government spying apparatus, which as has been made all too clear now focuses as much on US citizens as it does on legitimate foreign threats, and further eviscerate the concept of individual privacy in the US.

Fascist Ukraine To Criminalize Anti-War Speech: Five Years for Denying ‘Russian Aggression’

21st Century Wire says…
It’s springtime for fascism in the Ukraine. Kiev’s Junta is getting desperate, and so is Washington.
While political leaders from Europe and Russia try to hammer out a peace deal this week inMinsk, the unpopular US-installed billionaire oligarch, Petro Poroshenko (photo below), has been ordered by his foreign handlers to refill the dwindling ranks of a military facing near collapse.
Poroshenko has already hinted to media that he does not plan to observe the peace agreement.
The President has announced the regime’s third ‘draft’ in 12 months, hoping to impress at least100,000 able-bodied citizens between the age s of 25 and 60, into joining in Washington’s failing, bloody proxy-civil war in the eastern region of the country…

The Minsk Agreement on Ukraine – Putin’s Victory

In the Belarusian capital Minsk representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the rebels from the Donbass signed a 13-point agreement on a ceasefire and other measures to resolve the conflict in Ukraine under OSCE supervision.
The essence of the plan is to take account of the self-determination of peoples, which is the reason for the conflict: the ethnic Russians in the Donbass do not want to submit to a central government from Kiev itself. The Obama Administration really opposed this sort of settlement on the grounds of old-world empire theory predicated on territorial integrity of Ukraine. Such policies have led to the death of hundreds of millions of people over the centuries..
The leaders of Russia, Ukraine, France and Germany have reached a ceasefire deal after 17 hours of talks in Minsk, Belarus, on the Ukrainian conflict.
The ceasefire will come into force on Sunday as part of a deal that also involves the withdrawal of heavy weapons from the front line.
Russian president Vladimir Putin was the first to announce the deal, saying: ‘We have agreed on a ceasefire from midnight 15 February.’ Putin went on to say ‘There is also the political settlement. The first thing is constitutional reform that should take into consideration the legitimate rights of people who live in Donbass. There are also border issues. Finally there are a whole range of economic and humanitarian issues.’

No Demand for Skilled Jobs: ‘Millions cannot find work because the jobs simply are not there

Editor’s Note: As this article points out, the scheme announced by Obama to make community college free will not make America prosperous or fully employed. While have a well educated, skilled and knowledgeable populace is worthwhile, there is already a glut of over-educated degree holders – including many with master’s degrees and other specialized qualifications – who cannot find work in their field.
Why? Because the jobs just aren’t there. America doesn’t do much of anything anymore but consume. More and more skilled jobs are paying wages as low as fast food joints, and are so flooded with applications, that the job may as well not be there. There is too much demand by a workforce for work that isn’t there… so most have lowered their standards, and become adjusted to skating by with low wage, low skilled work when they have already over-achieved in the educational field. Student loans don’t get paid back this way, and the economy doesn’t bounce back either.
Unless the other side of this equation changes, there will be a continued downward slide, while millions more graduate with nothing to do, no where to go.
Fired Before Hired: How The Economy Has Killed The American Dream The latest corporate scam is to blame workers for the high unemployment rate. They say there is a skills gap. Even President Obama is in on the joke.
In his most recent State of the Union address, Obama called for Congress to make community college free. Because nothing will get you a job more than an associate’s degree from your local college.
The real skills gap is the other way around: too many skills for the low-wage menial jobs that pervade the labor market. The person who makes your coffee or your Big Mac might be able to design the next major bridge or write for The New York Times. Instead of high school kids cooking up your lunch, true professionals are behind the counter, and the future of the country is behind it too.
If this doesn’t qualify the United States as a third world country, what will?
The longer they stay there, the odds increase that America will take a permanent backseat in global power. In one short century, we have gone from superpower to super size me, a plutocracy, a nation that wasted its most valuable resource: the energy and innovation of its own people.
As you send your resume for the latest job ad, do you ever feel like the labor market is rigged against you? The job boards have turned into such black holes that we need Stephen Hawking to come work out the equations for us. You send your resume in, and it disappears.p
In 2012, Eric Auld, an unemployed 26-year-old with a master’s degree in English, decided to find out what was on the other side of the black hole. He created a fake job ad as an experiment:
Administrative Assistant needed for busy Midtown office. Hours are Monday through Friday, nine to five. Job duties include: filing, copying, answering phones, sending e-mails, greeting clients, scheduling appointments. Previous experience in an office setting preferred, but will train the right candidate. This is a full-time position with health benefits. Please e-mail rsum if interested. Compensation: $12-$13 per hour.
If you have ever applied for a job like that, I offer my condolences. You have better odds at the casino. Auld received 653 responses in 24 hours. 10% of the applicants had more than 10 years of experience, and 3% of them had master’s degrees. Presumably, one of them would get the job.
But what does that mean? It means that all the other experienced applicants and master’s degree holders would remain unemployed. That is about 64 experienced workers and about 19 workers with master’s degrees. The only way to get a job like this is if you are sleeping with the human resources manager. And this is for a job that pays $12 in Manhattan. If this doesn’t qualify the United States as a third world country, what will?

Obama Asks Congress for “Limited” War on ISIS; Explaining “Limited”; Republicans Seek “Robust” War

On Wednesday, president Obama Asked Congress to Back War on Isis.
Six months after US planes began bombing Jihadi militants in Iraq and Syria, President Barack Obama is taking a political gamble by asking Congress to approve the military operation.
The White House on Wednesday sent to Congress a new war powers resolution to authorise a ‘limited’ military campaign against the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (known as Isis) for the next three years.
In a statement at the White House, Mr Obama said the resolution was designed to give the ‘flexibility we need for unforeseen circumstances’. He would consider using US forces in Iraq or Syria if, for instance, the US received information about a meeting of Isis leaders.
But he insisted that the US was not getting ‘dragged back into another prolonged ground war in the Middle East’. The resolution was ‘not the authorisation of another ground war, like Afghanistan or Iraq’.

Argentine President Fernandez Charged In Alleged Cover-Up

Just weeks after the death of Alberto Nisman – the prosecutor who was investigating Argentine President Fernandez’ alleged cover-up of an Iranian bombing – it appears the discovery of an arrest warrant for the President at his home has prompted the following:
*ARGENTINA’S FERNANDEZ CHARGED IN PROBE OF ALLEGED COVER UP: TN Given her insistence that Nisman’s death was not suicide but from a faction within her (now defunct) intelligence unit, we can only imagine the level of uncertainty in the nation and the potential for social unrest (or worse) is growing rapidly as the movement supporting Nisman was already surging. Analysts warned that charging Fernandez would be “a scandal on a level previously unseen.’
As The Buenos Aires Herald reports,
Federal Prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita has requested to investigate President Cristina Fernndez de Kirchner and Foreign Minister Hctor Timerman in a case involving an alleged cover-up of Iran’s role in the 1994 AMIA bombing.
Giving a green light to a complaint first filed by now later AMIA special prosecutor Alberto Nisman, Pollicita presented the report before Judge Daniel Rafefas.
Ruling Victory Front (FpV) lawmaker Andrs Larroque, social leader Luis D’Ela, head of the political group Quebracho Fernando Esteche, ex judge Hctor Yrimia and Allan Bogado have been also charged.
As we detailed on the arrest warrant previously, A day after family and friends paid final respects Thursday to the Argentine prosecutor who was found dead after alleging that President Cristina Fernandez agreed to protect those responsible for a 1994 bombing, the worst terrorist attack in the country’s history; more details are emerging of just how far Nisman was willing to go.

Fighting Rages After Ukraine “Ceasefire” Deal; Ukraine Ultranationalist Leader Rejects Peace Agreement

After a marathon all night drafting session, if not the world, then certainly its stock markets, were delighted by yesterday’s early morning news that a second Ukraine ceasefire had been signed in the Belarus capital of Minsk, with the thinking (among algos perhaps, if not so much humans) that this time may be different and that following the failed Minsk I agreement in September, peace would miraculously break out. Humans were, for the most part far less enthused about said possibility, recalling how time after time 2014 saw countless “ceasefires”, only to be breached within days if not hours.
It was the humans then who were not surprised by today’s news that 2 days before the latest ceasefire deal is said to go into effect on Sunday, that “Ukraine and Russian-backed rebels fought fiercely across the east of the country on Friday.”
A ceasefire is due to come into effect from Sunday under the agreement, which also envisages a withdrawal of the heavy weapons responsible for many of the 5,000 casualties in the conflict that broke out almost a year ago. Kiev said pro-Russian rebels had built up their forces across separatist-held zones since the deal and both sides accused each other of killing civilians.
Two people were killed and six wounded when a shell hit a cafe in the Kiev-controlled town of Shchastya near rebel-held Luhansk in eastern Ukraine, a local official said, adding that other shells had struck elsewhere in the town.

300 US Troops In Iraq Under “Severe Threat” After ISIS Seizes Nearby Town

While military officials have stated that their “advisers” are not involved in the fighting, WaPo reportsthat ISIS militants have seized an Iraqi town within two miles of the Ayn al-Asad base where 300 US military advisers are stationed. The region remains under “severe threat” and the local council has called for “immediate and urgent military reinforcements’ after the attack on the town of al-Baghdadi, which began in the early morning.” It seems those non-boots-on-the-ground advisers are about to get a taste of what President Obama promised they would not…

As The Washington Post reports,
Islamic State militants seized parts of a town in Iraq’s western province of Anbar on Thursday, sparking fierce fighting within miles of a military base where hundreds of U. S. advisers are stationed.

E.U. warns of more sanctions if Russia flouts ceasefire

EU leaders gave a “cautious” welcome to the Ukraine ceasefire deal on Thursday (12 February) but warned of further sanctions if it isn’t implemented.
“We gave it our cautious approval. But words set down on paper must be accompanied by deeds … If this doesn’t happen we will not hesitate to take further steps”, Council chief Donald Tusk told press after a summit in Brussels.
“This conflict is not just about the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The whole geopolitical order in Europe after 1989 is at stake and we will be ready for any further development, good or bad”.
He noted the leaders didn’t discuss new sanctions in detail.
