Former U.S. Ambassador to the Soviet Union: The U.S. and Nato Are Provoking the Ukrainian Crisis

Encircling Russia and Arming Ukraine Are What’s Provoking the Bear Jack Matlock, U. S. ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1987 to 1991, says that the U. S. and NATO are to blame for the Ukraine crisis:
The fact is they are going to intervene until they are certain that there is no prospect of Ukraine becoming a member of NATO. And all of the threats by NATO and so on to sort of increase defenses elsewhere is simply provocative to the Russians. Now, I’m not saying that’s right, but I am saying that’s the way Russia is going to react. And frankly, this is all predictable. And those of us who helped negotiate the end of the Cold War almost unanimously said in the 1990s, ‘Do not expand NATO eastward. Find a different way to protect eastern Europe, a way that includes Russia. Otherwise, eventually there’s going to be a confrontation, because there is a red line, as far as any Russian government is concerned, when it comes to Ukraine and Georgia and other former republics of the Soviet Union.’
***
There needs to be an understanding between Russia and the Ukrainians as to how to solve this problem. It is not going to be solved militarily. So the idea that we should be giving more help to the Ukrainian government in a military sense simply exacerbates the problem. And the basic problem is Ukraine is a deeply divided country. And as long as one side tries to impose its will on the other – and that is what has happened since February, the Ukrainian nationalists in the west have been trying to impose their will on the east, and the Russians aren’t going to permit that. And that is the fact of the matter. So, yes, there simply needs to be an agreement.
And most of the – I would say, the influence of the West in trying to help the Ukrainians by, I would say, defending them against the Russians tends to be provocative, because – you know, Putin is right: If he decided, he could take Kiev. Russia is a nuclear power. And Russia feels that we have ignored that, that we have insulted them time and time again, and that we are out to turn Ukraine into an American puppet that surrounds them. And, you know, with that sort of psychology, by resisting that, in Russian eyes, he has gained unprecedented popularity. So, it seems to me that we have to understand that, like it or not, the Ukrainians are going to have to make an agreement that’s acceptable to them, if they keep their unity.

Russia Demands Ukrainian Troops Withdraw – US Sends in Troops

US Troops have headed into Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Eastern Europe is moving into a real crisis as many countries including Poland fear Russia. Belarus and Moldavia are effectively Russian states. Russia really want Ukraine and to take Kiev. That is a historical heritage to Russian and if Ukraine falls, they have the largest population so the rest cannot even put up a fight. Ukraine is the flash-point and it has been a key place in this chess game to reestablish the territory of the former Soviet Union.

US Boots in Iraq and Baltics, Authorization to Attack Syria…and US Troops in Ukraine!

It has been a busy week for US military planners. As the NATO summit in Wales kicks off today, with an expected agreement to create a “spearhead” force of up to 5,000 troops to rapidly deploy to any “hotspot” in eastern Europe, we learn that the US will also send several hundred troops to participate in NATO military exercises in Ukraine later this month. The exercises, provocatively named “Rapid Trident,” are said to be “a sign of the commitment of NATO states to support non-NATO member Ukraine…”As the civil war rages on in Kiev, with US-backed troops from Kiev fighting to suppress an independence movement in the east, the presence of US troops on Ukrainian soil sends a perhaps dangerously clear message of US willingness to become further involved in Ukraine’s internal affairs. Russia has been accused of military involvement on behalf of those seeking independence from Kiev, but Moscow denies any official Russian role. President Obama said Wednesday he wants “American boots on the ground, continuously rotating through Estonia and Latvia and Lithuania,” in response to Russian “aggression” in the region.

Latest Study into the Possibility of Megadroughts Ignores Much of the Real Science of Climate Change

A new study in the Journal of Climate Science warns that decades long drought may become the norm for the southwestern United States.
‘A drier Southwest is also a Southwest at risk of a megadrought,’ said study author Toby Ault, a climate scientist at Cornell University.
Of course, the study implicates global warming as the cause of these future droughts, it does not take into account the planet hasn’t actually warmed at all since 1998. Publications from around the world have published articles relating to the hiatus in global warming. You can read some of them here, here, and here. This article, by the eminent climate scientist Prof Don Easterbrook gives a full explanation of not only the end, for now of global warming, but how the planet is actually cooling at the moment.
The Journal of climate science study only takes into account precipitation, and even with that it deals with the averages in recent years. It makes no account for years of mammoth snowfall, or years of years of above average rainfall. Finally, it makes no reference at all to the cycles the Earth is proven to go through.
Back in the 1970′s scientists were screaming that a new ice age was upon us…they were of course wrong. The planet goes through cycles of warming and cooling and this is what’s happening now, it has always happened and it will continue to happen.

Meanwhile, In The Skies Above ISIS’ Capital…

Judging by these photos taken moments ago above the Islamic State (i.e. ISIS) capital of Raqqa, a triggerhappy remote-control operator in Whiteman Air Force Base is about to get jiggy with some jihadists located nearly 7000 miles away.
Needless to say, if readers spot one of these flying casually in the skies overhead, running fast may be a good strategy…

Moyers: Fighting Back Against the Wall Street Giants

One has to be concerned that America’s first female president will be as great a disappointment and failure as America’s first African-American president.
Unlike Obama or Hillary, I think Elizabeth Warren may be the real progressive deal. She has political street smarts and leadership skills that make her more than just a hectoring voice from the sidelines.
Yes, she has some concerning views on the foreign policy front that grate on liberals. And yes, when you listen to her, she is no doubt a politician, and remarkably partisan, excusing the sins of her own party and railing against those of the opposition. And Moyers calls her on it, beautifully.

Is This Why Obama Was “Noticeably Absent” During Yesterday’s NATO Meeting?

We are not exactly sure why Obama would be “noticeably absent” from the start of this week’s NATO-Ukraine commission (from The Hill):
President Obama was nowhere to be found during the beginning of a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine commission in Wales on Thursday. Obama was “noticeably absent” from the start of the meeting, according to a White House pool report, although U. S. Ambassador to NATO Douglas Lute was in attendance.
… but the following could provide some much needed clues (as we noted previously)…

The ‘Phony’ Cell Towers Are Part of the Smart Grid Mind Control Network

What are the ‘phony’ cell phone towers all about? Are they only for the purpose of ‘stealing’ data from the electronic devices of unsuspecting people? The answer to this question may surprise you.
Paul Watson’s recent report, chronicled in the video listed below, accurately portrays 50% of the operational functioning of what is presently being referred to as ‘phony cell towers’. Watson is correct in that these ‘phony towers’ are indeed stealing data from your electronic devices.
However, Watson’s depiction of the phony cell phone towers only represents half of the picture. On the other side of the coin, these towers are part of a mind control apparatus. Here is an excerpt of the relevant patent.

USAID: ‘In desperate need of adult supervision’

We’ve been tracking the dirty work of the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) for several years now – a Federal government agency that claims its main charge to be administering U. S. foreign assistance around the world: ‘USAID is the lead U. S. Government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential.’ (via usaid.gov)
On August 11th of this year, 21WIRE’s report on USAID’s secret operation against Cuba detailed how the agency ‘established a fake HIV prevention workshop in Cuba where their young recruits worked to turn young people against the Castro regime.’
The author of the report, Stuart J. Hooper, expands:
‘After undertaking a few short seminars, these young people were expected to do the work of a seasoned CIA officer, which is something that could have easily gotten their vastly inexperienced and unprepared selves into severe trouble with Cuban authorities.’
Not exactly the hallmark of a humanitarian agency promising to end global poverty.

THE POLICE STATE VERSUS THE MARKET

The police state has only grown worse in recent decades and there is a nationwide cover up of the true details about how many police officers kill people each year. Many newspapers have recently reported the number as 400, but I highly doubt this is accurate and it seems to me to be grossly under reported. Of course it is coming from the mainstream media.
A journalist has been attempting a nationwide database on police killings for some time, but the information is not readily available, as I myself have noticed as I have many times tried to find information to bring us such numbers. As the journalist writes about this experience:
“The biggest thing I’ve taken away from this project is something I’ll never be able to prove, but I’m convinced to my core: The lack of such a database is intentional. No government – not the federal government, and not the thousands of municipalities that give their police forces license to use deadly force – wants you to know how many people it kills and why.”
Killing citizens isn’t the only thing local police is good at. They’re great at theft, too.
PHILADELPHIA COMING FOR YOUR HOME
The city of Philadelphia is trying to steal Chris Sourovelis’ home, and the homes of thousands of others in Philadelphia.
In March 2014, Chris’s son was caught selling $40 worth of drugs outside of the family home. His son had no previous arrests nor a prior record, but still he was ordered to attend rehab. On the day Sourovelis was driving his son to his first rehab, a frantic call from his wife came through – the police were evicting the family and seizing the house. How? A little known clause known as “civil forfeiture.”

The West Paves The Road To War With Lies – Paul Craig Roberts

Official statements from the Russian government indicate that the president and foreign minister continue to rely on the good will of ‘our Western partners’ to work out a reasonable diplomatic solution to the trouble in Ukraine caused by Washington. Not only is there no evidence of this good will in Western capitals, the hostile measures against Russia are increasing. Moreover, hostile measures are on the rise even though their main effect is to disadvantage Europe.
For example, the socialist president of France has followed Washington’s orders and refused to deliver a ship that it owes to Russia under contract. The news reports are so incompetent that they do not say whether Russia has paid for the ship or whether payment was awaiting completion. If Russia has not already paid, then the failure to deliver will harm whoever financed the construction of the ship. If Russia has paid, then the idiot French president has placed France in violation of a contract and under international law France is subject to heavy financial penalties.
It is not clear how this hurts Russia. It is Russia’s strategic nuclear force that the West has to fear, not a helicopter carrier. What Hollande has taught Russia is not to do business with France or any country in NATO.

Ukraine, Separatists Agree On Cease-Fire; EU May Suspend Sanctions

UPDATE: So far no good…*HEAVY ARTILLERY BLASTS HEARD IN UKRAINE’S MARIUPOL: RIA
While we had grown weary of trashed truces and snapped cease-fires in Israel, it appears, according to Interfax, that Ukraine and the pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine (having gained notably over the army in recent days) have agreed a cease-fire:
*UKRAINE, SEPARATISTS AGREE ON CEASE-FIRE FROM 6PM TODAY: IFX *POROSHENKO: PRELIM. PROTOCOL TO CEASE-FIRE SIGNED IN MINSK: BBC Great news, especially for Merkel (and Hollande) who has already come out and noted that the cease-fire means EU could suspend sanctions (saving face and avoiding some further escalation). The question is – how much of Putin’s 7-point-peace-plan will Ukraine acquiesce to? If any?

MAN DRESSED AS ISIS MILITANT CROSSES U.S. BORDER

Infowars reporter Joe Biggs crossed the U. S. border from Mexico dressed as an ISIS militant to illustrate how easy it is for anyone to get into America despite warnings that Islamic State terrorists are plotting to carry out attacks on the homeland from their base in Juarez.
Just miles from the center of El Paso, Texas, Biggs was able to cross a river from Mexico into America dressed as a jihadist, while simulating a beheading and waving an ISIS flag.
‘We dressed up as an ISIS jihadi to be as obvious as possible and to show and illustrate just how wide open the border really is,’ states Biggs.
Last month, James O’Keefe also demonstrated the porous state of the U. S. border when he crossed an unguarded footbridge in the upper Rio Grande while dressed as Osama Bin Laden.

Russia Blasts NATO’s “Pre-Emptive Deployment” Plan For Undermining The Peace Process

As if like clockwork, on the heels of news from Russia of plans to shift their military doctrine towards pre-emptive reactions (and potential nuclear strikes), the NATO Summit has come out swinging with it’s own plan change:
*GEN. BRADSHAW, NATO’S DEPUTY SUPREME COMMANDER: NATO REACTION FORCE COULD BE DEPLOYED PREEMPTIVELY Russia’s response – “not surprised” NATO is trying to dominate Europe, adding that “NATO plans undermine the Ukraine peace process.”

As Fighting Rages In Mariupol, Ukraine Soldiers Say President Would “Betray The Country” If He Backs Peace

The NATO summit of world-class golfers is on its way out (having achieved nothing material and merely regurgitating old talking points), but it will be promptly replaced with yet another round of “peace talks” in Minsk, Belarus where all the usual suspects are gathered as well as the leaders of the eastern Ukraine separatists. According to Reuters, representatives of Ukraine, the pro-Russian separatist leadership, Russia and the OSCE security watchdog began talks on Friday on resolving the Ukraine conflict.
Most participants declined to comment to reporters as they arrived for the talks in the Belarussian capital, Minsk, but former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma said: “We all came for peace, that’s the most important thing – to find a truce.” President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday he would announce a ceasefire if the talks took place although there was no immediate ceasefire announcement.
News that the talks on securing a ceasefire had started pushed Moscow shares up.
A ceasefire agreed in June ended after 10 days because fighting did not stop, but officials were hopeful any new agreement could trigger steps to secure a more lasting peace after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Poroshenko gave it their backing.
Sadly, said officials must not be aware of the latest news then, that even as efforts to cobble together a makeshift truce continue (and ask Gaza how those have fared in the past months), the Russian rebels (as they are now known) continue to make territorial gains, and following our report that “The Battle For Strategic Mariupol Begins“, said fighting has escalated and is now openly raging between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russian rebels just east of the strategic port of Mariupol on Friday, as Reuters confirmed earlier today.

Total Capitulation of the Bears

One of Wall Street’s ‘Biggest Bears’ Throws the Towel Recently we have come across one of those forecasts that are a dime a dozen these days, and usually escape out attention. The article at Marketwatch, entitled ‘Bull could run 5 more years, carry S&P 500 close to 3,000′ only seemed interesting because the forecast sounded a bit extreme. We quickly scanned the headline, thinking that whoever was making this assertion surely hadn’t breathed a word about this when the SPX traded at just below 670 points in March of 2009. Such wildly bullish forecasts are strictly a function of SPX 2000 in our opinion, on a par with the ‘Dow 36,000′ forecast, which gained some notoriety in the late 90s. One of the reasons behind the SPX 3000 forecast mentioned in the article did amuse us greatly though, namely the following:
‘They cite extensive deleveraging in the U. S. as well as the uneven global recovery among other reasons why ‘this could prove to be the longest U. S. expansion – ever.’
(emphasis added)
Extensive deleveraging! Right.
‘Extensive US deleveraging’ in one comprehensive chart

Slovakia Asks EU to Cut Sanctions Some Against Russia

Slovakia speaks against some sanctions against Russia, proposed by the European Union, according to the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.
“We have addressed the EU, asking them to remove some clauses from the sanctions proposal. We want a number of products included in the list to be exempt from sanctions, so that we can continue exporting them to Russia,” Fico said during press conference after a special meeting dedicated to the discussion of new EU sanctions against Russia.
The ministers, who took part in a meeting, spoke against proposed export ban on goods that can have both military and civilian use, aimed for Russian private companies. According to the ministers, some Slovak machine-tool makers may become bankrupt if sanctions become effective.

No New NATO Bases in Eastern Europe

Poland has confirmed there will be no new NATO bases in eastern Europe to deter Russian aggression.
The alliance is creating a new “spearhead” force of some 4,000 troops designed to react if Russia attacks its eastern borders.
But Polish president Bronislaw Komorowski told press on Thursday at a NATO summit in Wales that that the force will not be physically stationed in the region. The only new facilities will include airfields, vehicle parks, and ammunition depots to help it to deploy more quickly.
