Ousted Catalan Leader Turns Himself In To Belgian Police

Ousted Catalan president Carles Puigdemont and four ex-ministers on Sunday turned themselves in to Belgian authorities to start the process of their possible extradition to Spain. Puigdemont was accompanied by four other former Catalan officials who are also wanted by Spanish authorities after they fled to Belgium last week after their removed from power by Spanish authorities as part of an extraordinary crackdown to impede the region’s illegal declaration of independence.
According to AP, a spokesman for the Brussels prosecutor’s office, Gilles Dejemeppe, said the five presented themselves to federal police and have been in custody since 9 a.m. (0800 GMT; 3 a.m. EST). He said that they have not been arrested and that Puigdemont and the four ex-ministers will be heard by an investigative judge Sunday afternoon.
The judge will have to decide what the next steps are within 24 hours. They could vary from arrest and imprisonment to conditional release. On Saturday, Belgian federal prosecutors said that they were studying the warrants and that they had shared them with city counterparts in Brussels.

Update 10:10 pm: The New York Post is reporting that victims of today’s attack included American students and adults who were on the school bus that was rammed, along with an undisclosed number of Belgian and Argentinian nationals.
Argentina’s Foreign Ministry has confirmed that several ‘Argentine citizens’ were among the dead, though it’s unclear how many.
Didier Reynders, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister for Belgium, wrote on Twitter that at least one the victims was Belgian.
‘I am deeply saddened to announce a Belgian victim in Manhattan,’ he tweeted. ‘I express my condolences to the family and friends.”
Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina has confirmed that two staff members and two students were among those who were hurt. They had been on a school bus, which was struck by suspected terrorist Sayfullo Saipov.
One of the students is reportedly in critical condition.
According to Reynders, three other Belgians were ‘also wounded’ during the incident and ‘in the operating room’ undergoing surgery on Tuesday night. The extent of their injuries was not clear.

Putin: “Russian Meddling Is A Fiction Democrats Invented To Divert Blame For Their Defeat”

With McCarthyism 2.0 continues to run amok in the US, spread like a virulent plague by unnamed, unknown, even fabricated sources, over in France one day after his first meeting with French president Emanuel Macron, the man who supposedly colluded with and was Trump’s pre-election puppet master (but had to wait until after the election to set up back-channels with Jared Kushner) Vladimir Putin sat down for an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro in which the Russian president expressed the belief that Moscow and Western capitals ‘all want security, peace, safety and cooperation.’
‘Therefore, we should not build up tensions or invent fictional threats from Russia, some hybrid warfare etc.,’ the Russian leader told his French hosts. ‘What is the major security problem today? Terrorism. There are bombings in Europe, in Paris, in Russia, in Belgium. There is a war in the Middle East. This is the main concern. But no, let us keep speculating on the threat from Russia.”
Case in point, in the latest attempt to stir up an anti-Russian frenzy, America’s biggest neocon, John McCain said that Russia is even more dangerous than ISIS. ‘You made these things up yourselves and now scare yourselves with them and even use them to plan your prospective policies. These policies have no prospects. The only possible future is in cooperation in all areas, including security issues.”

Trump Now a Captive of the Deep State

When the gullible and insouciant American public and the presstitutes who participate in the deceptions permitted the Deep State to get away with the fairy tale that a few Saudi Arabians under the direction of Osama bin Laden, but without the support of any government or intelligence agency, were able to outwit the entirety of the Western Alliance and Israel’s Mossad and deliver the greatest humiliation in history to ‘the world’s only superpower’ by making the entirety of the US government dysfunctional on September 11, 2001, Washington learned that it could get away with anything, any illegal and treasonous act, any lie. The gullible Western populations would believe anything that they were told.
Not only insouciant Americans, but much of the world accepts any statement out of Washington as the truth despite the evidence. If Washington said it, Washington’s vassals in Germany, France, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, and Japan assent to the obvious lie as if it were the obvious truth. So do the CIA purchased media of these vassal states, a collection of whores who prefer CIA subsidies to truth.
When Obama inherited the Deep State’s agenda from George W. Bush, he set up Syria’s Assad for regime change by repeating for many months that if Assad used chemical weapons in the ‘civil war’ that Washington had sent ISIS to conduct, Assad would have crossed the ‘Red Line’ that Obama had drawn and would, as the consequence, face an invasion by the US military, just as Iraq had been invaded based on Washington’s lie about ‘weapons of mass destruction.’

France: Paris Attack Shakes up Presidential Race

France is once again picking up the pieces after another terrorist attack shocked the country – this one just days before polls open for the first round of its presidential election. Late April 20, a man opened fire on policemen on the Champs-Elysees in downtown Paris, leaving one policeman dead and two others seriously wounded. The assailant, a 39-year-old French national who lived in a town east of Paris, was shot dead by police. Hours later, the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack. French police are reportedly searching for a possible accomplice who is believed to have arrived in the country from Belgium shortly before the shootings. Earlier in the week, two men were arrested in Marseille on suspicion of planning an attack ahead of the vote.
The incident happened as the 11 presidential candidates were participating in the final TV debate before the April 23 election. Three of the main candidates, nationalist Marine Le Pen, centrist Emmanuel Macron and conservative Francois Fillon, said they would suspend their campaign events scheduled for April 21. Other candidates, including left-wing Jean-Luc Melenchon, pledged to continue on as normal as a show of defiance against terrorism. French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said on April 21 that the elections would not be suspended because of the attack. He also announced that more than 50,000 policemen and gendarmes and 7,000 soldiers will be mobilized to ensure the security of the vote.

Twitter Sued By Families Of Terrorism Victims For “Providing Services To ISIS”

Lately Twitter just can’t seem to get anything right.
While Jack Dorsey’s social network has been frequently in the news for cracking down on outspoken members of the “alt-right”, or those accused of harrassment such as Martin Shkreli most recently, it has also been accused of taking a soft hand on those who post real threats, such as terrorist who use the social network to coordinate attacks.
A 2014 article in The Atlantic titled “How ISIS Games Twitter” described how “extremists of all stripes are increasingly using social media to recruit, radicalize and raise funds.
Which is also why a lawsuit was filed against Twitter by families of three Americans killed during ISIS attacks in France and Belgium, claiming the social media platform played “a uniquely essential role in the development of ISIS’ image, its success in recruiting members from around the world, and its ability to carry out attacks and intimidate its enemies.”

Mystery Surrounds NATO Auditor General’s Suspicious Death

Police in Belgium are probing the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a high ranking NATO official – the auditor general, whose responsibilities included probing terror financing – after his body was discovered in his car with a gunshot wound to the head.
As SudInfo reports, troubling elements accumulate around the death of Yves Chandelon, a senior official of the NATO based in Luxembourg, who lived in Lens, near Tournai.
The man was found dead on Friday in Andenne, with a bullet in his head. An autopsy was performed on Tuesday. The family does not believe it was suicide as many have reported.
Did Yves Chandelon have any enemies? Was he threatened in the course of his work in NATO? Was it an odious crime made to look like suicide, or did the man go through a troubled period? For his relatives, the incomprehension is total.

Open Letter To Bavaria Minister-President Horst Seehofer

(Sent before the carnage in Berlin’s Christmas market)
Dear Minister-President Seehofer,
I would like to commend you on your opposition to mass uncontrolled immigration into Europe. One would think that it would be trivial to praise politicians – who are elected to uphold law and order, meaning our culture and values – for doing so, but these are the times we are living in.
In 1973 French author Jean Raspail asked a prophetic question in his best-selling novel, The Camp of Saints. What if France had at its borders millions of people ready to move in, not carrying weapons but complete destitution instead? If you refuse entry they will face a very uncertain future; but if you let them in millions more will follow and your culture and national identity will die. What should be done?
Today we have the answer: an unprecedented population replacement across much of Western Europe, largely funded by those being replaced. Based on current demographic and immigration trends, Austria will become a majority Muslim country by the end of this century, likely followed by France, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and even the UK.

US Army Deploys Tanks To Europe Ratcheting Up Tensions With Russia

On December 16, US tanks and armor vehicles arrived in the Netherlands to be deployed in a storage depot located in the province of Limburg. The facility, the former Eygelshoven military base near Kerkrade, will be used to keep and maintain tanks, armored vehicles and heavy artillery pieces for a US armored brigade combat team. In January, the US Army in Europe is due to deploy a total of 4,000 American troops and around 2,000 military vehicles on a rotational basis to Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and the Baltic nations. NATO forces will move to the Baltic States in early spring. In an overtly provocative move, an American battalion will be stationed in Poland near the border with Kaliningrad, Russia’s Baltic enclave.
The US Army is implementing the annual defense authorization act which approved a $3.4 billion spending plan to boost NATO forces, including reopening or creating five equipment-storage sites in the Netherlands, Poland, Belgium and two locations in Germany. In September, the US Army began to assemble more Army Prepositioned Stocks (APS) for permanent storage in Europe. The additional combat equipment will give the Army the option for another heavy armored brigade. Presently, it has only two light brigades in Europe: 173rd Airborne Brigade and the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.
The US military has over 62,000 permanently assigned service members in Europe.

Clinton’s State Department Cover-up of Pedophilia

Clinton Covered Up Ambassador’s Pedophilia
U. S. Ambassador to Belgium Howard Gutman routinely ditched his security detail in Brussels and solicited prostitutes – this according to a suppressed Inspector General report. Further, Gutman was alleged to have been engaged in pedophilia – sex with children. When agents discovered that Howard Gutman was having sex with children – underage prostitutes – it was allowed to continue for months! Why? It proved to be too damaging to the State Department. It proved to be too damaging to Hillary Clinton, slated by the Democrat party to run for President in 2016.

Whistleblower: Hillary’s Chief of Staff Quashed State Dept. Scandal Investigation breitbart.com / by JOHN NOLTE11 Jun 2013
A former senior investigator with the State Department’s criminal investigative unit has turned whistleblower and alleged to both the media and Congress that senior staff within State Department covered up investigations into appalling behavior committed by members of Hillary Clinton’s security staff and our ambassador to Belgium. One of those alleged to have interfered was Cheryl Mills, Hillary’s chief of staff.
The case in which Clinton enforcer Mills allegedly intervened centered upon Brett McGurk, Obama’s nominee to be US ambassador to Iraq.
McGurk’s expected nomination fell apart after a computer hack exposed his racy e-mails and an extramarital affair with Wall Street Journal reporter Gina Chon.
According to the memo, the SID “never interviewed McGurk, allegedly because Cheryl Mills from the Secretary’s office interceded.”
“Without that interview, SID has been unable to close the case,” the memo concludes.

If American media is being tight-lipped about the threat of potential nuclear war with Russia over the West’s insistence of regime change in and illegal occupation of Syria, Russian and international media is all over it.
Take Pravda for example. Top headlines include:
USA wants to turn the world into controlled chaos, but fails
Belgium lies, accusing Russia of lies, as US puppets do
Putin prepares bitter and hysterical missile surprise to ‘American partners’
The Pravda editorial, ‘Geopolitical Chess: Game, set and match to Russia,’ actually begins with:
The Russian Federation has won the fifteen-year geopolitical chess match with the west. However, Moscow could be described as an unwilling victor because it never envisaged a situation in which it would be forced to outsmart its ‘partners’ just to survive. The idea at the turn of the century was something totally different.

Russia Reports Belgium Killing Civilians in Aleppo Airstrikes, Russian Ambassador Summoned

21st Century Wire says…
The US-led ‘Coalition’ flying over Syria has turned into an illegal ‘free-for-all’ – with virtually no real control or accountability regarding what and where the Pentagon’s shadow confab is hitting in their alleged ‘battle against ISIS.’ This latest incident involving Belgium is another prime example of this.
According to AFP, Moscow has claimed that Belgian air force jets from the US ‘Coalition’ has killed six civilians in airstrikes around Aleppo.

A Kingdom In Turmoil: Saudi Societal Discontent Grows

Submitted by Erico Matias Tavares via Sinclair & Co.,
Dr. Alyami is a native of Saudi Arabia and a citizen of the US for the past four decades. From an early age he has been advocating for political, economic and social reform in his native homeland. He is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Democracy & Human Rights in Saudi Arabia, a Washington, a Washington D. C. based non-profit tax exempt organization. Previously, he was a Senior Fellow at the Saudi Institute in Washington, D. C., Director of an educational peace program for the American Friends Service Committee in San Francisco and a Representative for the Arab Organization for Human Rights (a Cairo based group) in North America. Dr. Alyami has spoken at conferences throughout the US, Egypt, Sudan, Israel, France, Belgium, Spain and the UK, has offered expert testimony before Congress and has advised senior officials at the Pentagon, the National Security Council and the Department of State.
E Tavares: Dr. Alyami, thank you for your being with us today. Last October we spoke about the socio-political situation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (‘KSA’), a hugely important country, and implications for the wider region. It seems very little has changed as far as policies and governance are concerned, other than perhaps the current rulers becoming more entrenched in power. Do you agree?
AA: Thank you for this opportunity and more so for your patriotism and understanding of the unprecedented Islamist ideological threats facing us and the international community, including the majority of Muslims. This is a fact that cannot be denied, ignored or belittled as the action of a few perverted groups.

German Government Instructs Citizens to Stockpile Food, Water and Prepare for Possible Conscription

I’m sure it’s nothing.
From Reuters:
Germany has told its citizens to stock up on water and food in the event of a terrorist attack or national catastrophe and be ready to support the military in the country’s first overhaul of civil defenses for two decades.
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cabinet approved the 70-page plan at a time when Germans are particularly on edge after two Islamist militant attacks in July and several much larger-scale, deadly assaults in France and Belgium this year.
The German word for stocking up on provisions in case of an emergency is ‘Hamsterkaeufe’ and some media have mocked the plan for encouraging Germans to hoard like the small, furry animals.

In Rare Interview, Jailed Jihadist Warns ISIS Plans “Loads Of Concurrent Attacks In England, Germany, & France”

It has been a dreadful 12 months for Europe, where last November, Islamic radical refugees unleashed a terrorist first in Paris in a dramatic suicide bombing and mass execution, and proceeded from there to Belgium and ultimately Germany in a trail of terror that gets worse by the week, if not day. And it’s about to get worse, because a jailed former Islamic State jihadist, German-born Harry Sarfo, has revealed that the terrorist group is actively seeking volunteers in Germany and the UK to carry out ‘loads of attacks at the same time in England, Germany and France.’
Members of the Islamic State’s intelligence service, called Emni in Arabic, told Sarfo they were first and foremost interested in waging terrorism across the globe. In an interview with the New York Times, Sarfo, who is currently serving a three-year term on terrorism charges at a maximum security prison near Bremen, recalled what one masked commander once told him.
“He was speaking openly about the situation, saying that they have loads of people living in European countries and waiting for commands to attack the European people. And that was before the Brussels attacks, before the Paris attacks.’

Leader Of Belgium’s Largest Political Party Calls For “Patriot Act” To Crack Down On Terrorism

Last week we observed that Germany quietly escalated the potential for a “proportional” response to upcoming terrorist attacks (by those admitted in the country thanks to Merkel’s “open door” immigration policy) by including the army, in what to many sounds dangerously close to preannouncing martial law under “special cases.”
Recall that during a press conference given last week by Bavaria’s interior minister, Joachim Hermann, the politician suggested that Germany’s army should be used to aid police in dealing with major terror threats. The debate over whether to deploy the Bundeswehr domestically should not wait ‘until the next attack happens.” Lawmakers in Berlin are also discussing the possibility of establishing ‘troops of reservists’ to aid police during internal crisis situations, German media outlet Bild reported, citing its own sources.

4 Winners to Emerge from Brexit

Last week my friend John Mauldin, chairman of Mauldin Economics, released a special Brexit edition of his popular investments newsletter Outside the Box. In it he shared a post written by geopolitical strategist George Friedman that describes a recent meeting among six foreign ministers representing the European Union’s founding member states: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. The topic of discussion was the possible causes and implications of the U. K.’s decision to leave the EU.
What George finds extraordinary is that, in their follow-up statement, the ministers appear to capitulate, admitting they ‘recognize different levels of ambition amongst Member States when it comes to the project of European integration.’
As George puts it, this is their way of acknowledging – finally? – the impossible task of enforcing uniformity across the European continent, home to many different peoples and cultures, all with different goals and aspirations.
If nothing else, this alone should be seen as a positive consequence of Brexit. It’s too early to tell what direction the EU will take post-Brexit, or whether any material policy changes will be made, but it seems as if the cries of resentment and frustration that have risen up from England and Wales (and, to a lesser extent, Scotland and Northern Ireland) have not fallen on deaf ears.
This is precisely what I’ve been writing about the last few weeks. If you’ve been following the mainstream media’s coverage of Brexit, you might think it’s little more than a reactionary, anti-immigrant groundswell. Don’t get me wrong – immigration is certainly part of it. Trying to integrate 50,000 people a year into the country’s national health care and school system has pushed the bandwidth of the British economy.
But the U. K.’s grievances – some of which I discussed in previous commentaries – are much more varied than that. And following the historic referendum, EU bureaucrats seem to be taking the gripes seriously, which we can count as a win not just for the U. K. but other member states as well.
Below are four more winners to have emerged from Brexit.
