The U. S.-led coalition bombed a convoy allied with the Syrian government Thursday after the convoy advanced too close to a base where American and British special forces train rebel fighters.
‘A convoy going down the road didn’t respond to numerous ways for it to be warned off from getting too close to coalition forces’ before it was struck, a U. S. official said.
The convoy of 27 tanks was struck by American jets when it moved within 15 miles of a coalition garrison at al-Tanf, a city in Southern Syria near the Iraqi and Jordanian borders.
In recent days, Syrian forces, along with Iranian and allied Lebanese Hezbollah fighters, moved weapons closer to their front line with Free Syrian Army (FSA) units, including surface-to-air missiles. That was in an apparent warning to the coalition, who trains the FSA militants to fight ISIS and carries out air raids on the radical group in the area.

Days after reports that Damascus was on high alert due to increased U. S. troop levels on the Jordanian border and an apparent preparation for an invasion from the south and southeast, the United States and Britain have indeed pushed into Syria from the very location earlier reports suggested would be used.
Fighting alongside jihadist terrorist organization, Jaysh Mughawr al-Thurah, a subsidiary of the Free Syrian Army, U. S. and British forces were filmed traveling through the Tanf border crossing in Homs governate. The troops were apparently heading towards the Hamimah area.
The reports were released first from the SMART News Agency, which writes that approximately 150 U. S. and British military personnel have entered Syria from Jordan.
SMART News Agency has provided video evidence of their claims. This video reportedly shows several military personnel in armed Humvees engaging in a firefight alongside terrorist forces, who were operating the cameras. Indeed, the familiar ‘Allahu Akbar’ chant can be heard throughout the video.

Who benefits from a military strike on the Syrian government? Certainly not the ideals that Donald J. Trump and his supporters claim to stand for considering the Syrian government is famous for protecting the rights of Christians and other minority groups. Conversely, according to a report from a think-tank founded by alleged war-criminal Tony Blair, the majority of the rebel groups currently attempting to defeat the Syrian government share ISIS’ core ideology. The report also found it was pointless to distinguish between these groups because they all work together on the ground.
These groups could establish Sharia law in an instant if Syrian president Bashar al-Assad falls, and this includes the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA), which has been hijacked by extremists for years.
So what do we know about Trump’s recent decision to strike an airbase facility inside Syria? We know the U. S. government has accused the base of being complicit in chemical weapons attacks, but we have not been presented with any evidence for this claim. However, what we do know about the recent chemical weapons attack that inspired Trump to do a complete 180 on his approach to Syria is that, as identified by Scott Ritter, a former U. N. weapons inspector in Iraq:

US Backed ‘Moderate Rebels’ Target French Delegation in Aleppo

In a clear breach of the Russian brokered ceasefire, US backed FSA (Free Syrian Army) division, Company 23, fired upon Aleppo airport. The shelling took place just prior to the departure of a French delegation, led by French politician, Thierry Mariani, after a fact finding trip to the recently liberated industrial, second capital city, of Aleppo.
According to Fares Shehabi, independent, Aleppo MP and head of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, the missiles were fired from an area next to Khan Touman, 8km away from the airport, in a deliberate act of terror against the French delegation. The leader of this group of so called ‘moderates’ is Hassan Rajoob, a colonel who had previously defected from the Syrian Arab Army.

Turkey Has Declared War On Syria – Does This Mean That World War 3 Is About To Erupt In The Middle East?

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has just announced that the only reason Turkish military forces have entered northern Syria is to ‘end the rule of the tyrant al-Assad’. By publicly proclaiming that Turkey intends to use military force to overthrow the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Erdogan has essentially declared war on the Syrian government. Of course this puts a member of NATO in direct military conflict with Russia, since Russia is working very hard to prop up the Assad regime. If all-out war breaks out between Turkey and Russia, could that be the spark that causes World War 3 to erupt in the Middle East? And once Turkey and Russia start fighting, would the United States and the rest of NATO be dragged into the conflict?
The big mainstream news networks in the western world are almost completely ignoring what Erdogan said on Tuesday, but without a doubt this is major news. The following comes from a Turkish news source…
The Turkish military launched its operations in Syria to end the rule of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, President Recep Tayyip Erdoan said Nov. 29.
‘In my estimation, nearly 1 million people have died in Syria. These deaths are still continuing without exception for children, women and men. Where is the United Nations? What is it doing? Is it in Iraq? No. We preached patience but could not endure in the end and had to enter Syria together with the Free Syrian Army [FSA],’ Erdoan said at the first Inter-Parliamentary Jerusalem Platform Symposium in Istanbul.

US Troops Forced To Flee Town After US-Backed Rebels Threaten To “Slaughter” Them

Authored by Graeme Baker via,
US special forces soldiers were reportedly forced to flee a town in northern Syria after Free Syrian Army fighters threatened to “slaughter” them for their “invasion”, according to videos and reports posted on social media on Friday.

“We’re going to slaughter u. Ur coming to invade #Syria”
– Riam Dalati (@Dalatrm) September 16, 2016
The US soldiers were working with Turkish forces as they advanced on al-Rai, Aleppo, in preparation for an offensive against nearby al-Bab, which is controlled by the Islamic State group.
The FSA is allied with Turkish forces and ostensibly supported by the US as a “moderate” rebel group fighting against the government of Bashar al-Assad.

On the Ground in Aleppo: 21WIRE Interviews Correspondent Tom Duggan in Syria

Amid talks of a temporary US-Russian brokered ceasefire in Syriathis week, the conflict still rages on – both on the ground and also in the media.
At ever turn, the US media, both on TV via its pedestrian, and oftenpro-terrorist it seems, propaganda outlets like CNN, and in print with ever-compliant US State Dept oracles like the New York Times – will try to frame the story as simply ‘Rebel-held Aleppo’ by ignoring and expunging one situation: that of government-held West Aleppo which has 1.5 million residents under government protection but currently being shelled indiscriminately by terrorists in the east of the city. Instead, the western media focus exclusively on ‘rebel-held’ (terrorist-held) East Aleppo (200K remaining, many of them terrorists and their supporter) while intentionally describing the scene as ‘The Assad Government’s Siege of Aleppo’ giving the western public the false impression that a merry band of rebels are the only one left in the whole city and are being besieged by the forces of an evil Bashar al Assad. This cosmetic treatment of the facts on the ground feigns reality in Syria.
The destruction of Aleppo is one of the greatest losses on the world heritage map. While the western media continue to twist the narrative in favour of terrorist enclaves, the reality is that from the beginning of this conflict, the ‘Free Syrian Army’ (FSA) units, along with various other terrorist groups – destroyed and set fire to the historic shopping streets of the city at the beginning of the conflict.

Syrian Flashpoint US and Turkey invade Syria

Even as top Turkish officials excoriate the United States for supposedly backing the failed coup attempt against President Recip Erdogan, Turkish troops, and US Special Forces are coordinating with Syrian Islamist rebels to carry out a de facto invasion of Syria. Under the pretext of fighting the Islamic State, Erdogan’s Janissaries, thousands of ‘Free Syrian Army’ jihadis, and 300 US ‘advisors’ are moving to consolidate control over a large swathe of Syrian territory along the Turkish-Syrian border. The government of Bashar al-Assad immediately denounced the move as a ‘blatant violation’ of Syria’s sovereignty.
Syria’s four-sided civil war just got more complicated – and much more dangerous.
The invasion commenced hours before the arrival of Vice President Joe Biden in Turkey, where he is on a mission to appease the cantankerous Turks. As an official traveling with Biden put it:
‘The major goal of the trip is to make sure that our alliance remains rock-solid and that relations get back on track. We can’t afford any friction in our relationship right now because we have a lot of business to do with the Turks.’
The ‘business’ Biden has to take care of involves stabbing the Kurds in the back, reiterating US support for radical Islamist ‘rebels,’ and furthering the US plan to overthrow Assad using the ambitious Erdogan as the spearhead.

What Most Syrians See Of Their War

Submitted by Eric Zuesse, Investigative historian and author of They’re Not Even Close: The Democratic vs. Republican Economic Records, 1910-2010, and of CHRIST’S VENTRILOQUISTS: The Event that Created Christianity.
What Most Syrians See of Their War
Here is a video of what most Syrians are seeing and experiencing of the war, and it’s titled ‘Living in the crosshairs, May 29th 2016 ENG SUBS’ (the ‘ENG SUBS’ means ‘English subtitles’).
Aleppo. Living in the crosshairs May 29th 2016 by frontinfo-info
It refers to attackers being the ‘Free Syrian Army’ (who were founded by Riad al-Asaad, no relation to Bashar al-Assad – and spelled and pronounced differently – and he was a proponent of a fundamentalist Sunni Syrian constitution). It also refers to (and shows victims of) the ‘canisters’ which the FSA is firing westward, from the Aleppo city area that the FSA controls, into the city’s ‘Midan District,’ which is controlled by the Syrian government.
The FSA is America’s chosen group of fighters (Barack Obama’s terms for them are ‘the moderate opposition’ and ‘moderate rebels’, but they’re just the people that the U. S. government overtly back – not back covertly like Syria’s branch of Al Qaeda and some other groups). All these groups are trying to overthrow the Syrian government, and, though they often cooperate with one-another, like with Al Qaeda in Syria (called ‘Al Nusra’), and ISIS (also called ‘ISIL’ and “Daesh’), the groups also occasionally attack each other, because each of the groups is trying to increase its territory and wants to emerge victorious to control all of Syria, or of as much of Syria as possible, in the final settlement.

It Is Being Reported That Turkish Military Forces Have Entered Syria

There are international news reports that claim that Turkish military forces have entered Syrian territory and have established positions near the towns of Azaz and Afrin. If these international news reports are true, then Turkey has essentially declared war on the Assad regime. Back in February, I warned that escalating tensions in the region could be the spark that sets off World War III, but things seemed to cool down a bit in March and April. However, this latest move by Turkey threatens to take the war in Syria to a whole new level, and everyone will be watching to see how the Russians and the Iranians respond to this ground incursion.
So far, it is the Russian media that it taking the lead in reporting about this movement of Syrian forces. For example, the Sputnik news agency was one of the first to report Turkish military activity around the town of Azaz…
Amid violent clashes between militants of Daesh and troops of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the town of Azaz in northern Aleppo district, reports are surfacing suggesting that the Turkish Army units have been seen located in the district of Azaz.
In addition, Sputnik claims that Turkish military forces entered a small village called Hamam near the town of Afrin on Saturday…

Defender of Syrian Sovereignty: Father Frans van der Lugt was Murdered on 7th April 2014

The Brics Post
Syria: On this day in 2014, Father Frans van der Lugt, a man of principle and peace was murdered by NATO & US backed insurgents. Terrorists under the banner of the Free Syrian Army, reportedly took the life of a man who was brave enough to publicly reject the ‘revolution’ principle as a myth sustained by Western media and governments to justify a Syrian ‘regime change.
This article was written by John Rosenthal on April 19th 2014:
An Eyewitness to the Syrian Rebellion: Father Frans in His Own Words
The Syrian Civil War has devastated entire cities and towns as fighting between the rebels and Syrian Army spreads from neighborhood to neighborhood [Xinhua].
An examination of texts published by Father Frans van der Lugt in 2011 and 2012 shows that the late Dutch Jesuit priest had a dim view of the Syrian rebellion, which he held to be the work of a violent minority, and favored a process of political reform in Syria to be implemented by the current government under President Bashar Al-Assad.
Father Frans was murdered under still unclarified circumstances in the embattled Syrian city of Homs earlier this month [in 2014].
Opposition sources have blamed the Syrian government for his death. But it is widely believed that Father Frans was killed by hard-line Islamist members of one of the rebel factions that have taken control of his Bustan al-Diwan neighborhood in Homs.

Exposed: The ‘Caesar’ Fraud that Undermined Syrian Peace Negotiations.

Rick Sterling
A 30 page investigative report on the ‘Caesar Torture Photos’ has been released and is available online here. The following is a condensed version of the report. Readers who are especially interested are advised to get the full report which includes additional details, photographs, sources and recommendations.
There is a pattern of sensational but untrue reports that lead to public acceptance of US and Western military intervention in countries around the world:
In Gulf War 1, there were reports of Iraqi troops stealing incubators from Kuwait, leaving babies to die on the cold floor. Relying on the testimony of a Red Crescent doctor, Amnesty Interenational ‘verified’ the false claims.
Ten years later, there were reports of yellow cake uranium going to Iraq for development of weapons of mass destruction.
One decade later, there were reports of Libyan soldiers drugged on viagra and raping women as they advanced.
In 2012, NBC broadcaster Richard Engel was supposedly kidnapped by pro-Assad Syrian militia but luckily freed by Syrian opposition fighters, the ‘Free Syrian Army’.
All these reports were later confirmed to be fabrications and lies. They all had the goal of manipulating public opinion and they all succeeded in one way or another. Despite the consequences, which were often disastrous, none of the perpetrators were punished or paid any price.
It has been famously said ‘Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it.’ This report is a critical review of the ‘Caesar Torture Photos’ story. As will be shown, there is strong evidence the accusations are entirely or substantially false.

Midnight in Damascus — Pepe Escobar

Imagine you are part of a hardcore, heavily weaponized Islamist outfit in Syria.
You would have had until noon this Friday to contact the U.S. and/or Russia military and win a prize; be part of a “cessation of hostilities,” ersatz “ceasefire” that does not apply to ISIS/ISIL/Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra, a.k.a. al-Qaeda in Syria, as well as assorted remnants of the former Free Syrian Army (FSA) who are for all practical purposes embedded with al-Nusra.
Compounding the drama, as background noise you have U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry bluffing that Plan B is the partition of Syria anyway. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov once again had to call for order in the court.
So what do you do? You’re a Washington-approved “moderate rebel”. So you re-label yourself as FSA. Will you fool the task force set up by the US and Russia – hotline included – to monitor the “ceasefire”? Well, at least you’ve got a shot. The “ceasefire” mostly applies to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), unspecified “moderate rebels” and the Syrian Kurds. Everyone must de-weaponize by midnight this Friday.

Closing In: Russia, Iran, Assad “Encircle” Syria’s Largest City As Peace Talks Collapse In Geneva

Back in October, we previewed the ‘promised’ battle for Aleppo, Syria’s largest city prior to the war.
By the time Russia began constructing an air base at Latakia, the city – which is immensely important both from a strategic and psychological perspective – was controlled by a hodgepodge of rebels and militants including al-Qaeda, the Free Syrian Army, and ISIS.
As we noted four months ago, if Russia and Hezbollah manage to recapture the city, it would effectively restore the Assad government in Syria even if the east of the country is still controlled by Islamic State.
In many ways, the city is emblematic of the wider conflict. Here are a few visuals which underscore the extent of the desolation and utter sorrow that plague this once thriving urban center.

US Backed “Rebels” Execute Russian Pilots While Parachuting, Caught On Tape

If Putin was angry when Turkey shot down a Russian plane, which may or may not have crossed Turkish territory – reports on both sides are conflicting – he will be absolutely livid to learn that, according to Turkey’s Dogan News, the Russian pilots who had parachuted in an attempt to save their lives after the plane was shot down, had been executed while parachuting down by local rebels, which considering thevideo released earlier belonged to the Free Syrian Army, are same “rebels” who are funded directly by the CIA.

How You Were Tricked Into ‘Supporting’ The Syrian War

Submitted by Justin King via The Fifth Column,
Those who don’t understand history are doomed to repeat it, those that do understand are doomed to watch in horror while everyone else repeats it. The run up to overthrowing President Assad of Syria was occurring before The Fifth Column existed. I covered it when I wrote daily for The Anti-Media, and even before then when I wrote for a Canadian outlet called Digital Journal. It began long before that though.
It started in 2006 when the US decided it wanted to oust Syrian President Assad and started laying the ground work. This was proven by leaked Saudi Arabian intelligence cables hosted on Wikileaks. Julian Assange said of the leaks:
‘That plan was to use a number of different factors to create paranoia within the Syrian government; to push it to overreact, to make it fear there’s a coup…so in theory it says ‘We have a problem with Islamic extremists crossing over the border with Iraq, and we’re taking actions against them to take this information and make the Syrian government look weak, the fact that it is dealing with Islamic extremists at all.’ The same year, the Islamic State was just a half-baked insurgent group in Iraq. The group would then migrate to Syria, where it was reinforced by battalions of defecting Free Syrian Army troops who were trained by the United States. Many of those claimed to have ties to the Central Intelligence Agency. The Islamic State truly became a child of the United States.
In 2009, the United States began secretly funding opposition groups within Syria and even provided $6 million to Barada TV, a UK-based TV channel, to produce propaganda to support ‘regime change’ inside Syria.

Einsteinian Insanity: US, Saudi Arabia Pledge To Provide More Guns, Ammo To Syrian Proxy Armies

You have to hand it to Washington. When it comes to foreign policy blunders, the US certainly isn’t afraid to double and triple down.
As a leaked diplomatic cable from 2006 definitively shows, the US has actively sought to stoke sectarian violence in Syria for at least the last ten years and part of that effort has involved coordinating with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey to support Sunni extremists.
That support led directly to what has to be considered the most absurd foreign policy outcome in the history of modern statecraft and we never tire of calling it out: Washington, Ankara, Riyadh, and Doha trained and equipped a group of fighters, told them to go and destabilize the Assad regime, and somewhere along the way, that group of fighters went rogue and metamorphosed into a insane band of black flag-waving, sword-wielding, white Nike-wearing, desert bandits hell bent on establishing a medieval caliphate.
Whether or not ISIS is still getting support now that they have gone completely native we’ll never know for sure, but what we do know is that despite the sheer ridiculousness of that ‘train and equip’ exercise, the US and its regional allies went on to arm and fund still more Sunni extremists hoping against hope that they might manage to find the rebel Goldilocks zone and finally back a group that is all at once effective at fighting to overthrow the regime and not prone to going absolutely nuts in the process.
And if the original efforts to arm and train Syrian ‘freedom fighters’ ended in tears of sorrow, more recent efforts have ended in tears of laughter. The Pentagon’s latest foray into building a Syrian proxy army began back in May with a completely ridiculous press release that attempted to explain the rebel ‘vetting’ process. By the time summer rolled around, the US had only managed to field around 60 fighters. In July they were ambushed by al-Qaeda who kidnapped the group’s commander and deputy. By September, US Central Command Gen. Lloyd Austin admitted to Congress that only ‘four or five’ fighters were still active on the ground. The rest had either been killed, captured, had defected to ISIS, or were lost in the desert.
Now that Russia is in the process of obliterating anything that even looks like a rebel and now that Hezbollah, the IRGC, and Tehran’s various Shiite militias are busy marching over anything that even looks like a Sunni extremist, Washington has resorted to resupplying America’s proxy armies. That is absurd for two reasons, i) it amounts to the US giving weapons to soldiers who are trying to kill the Russians and the Iranians, meaning Washington is literally waging a war against Moscow and Tehran with one degree of separation, and ii) the US is giving the Free Syrian Army anti-tank weapons to use against the very same Shiite militias who Washington supports in Iraq (i.e. they’re ‘allies’ in Iraq, and enemies in Syria).

General In Charge Of “Total Failure” Syrian “Train And Equip” Program Gets Promotion

The US effort to train and equip Syrian freedom fighters battling to bring democracy to Damascus and usurp a brutal dictator has been a smashing success (count the instances of sarcasm there).
Take ISIS for example. The Pentagon knew that the opposition groups the West and its regional allies were supporting could morph into something beyond anyone’s control. Recall the following passage from asecret DoD document dated 2012: ‘If the situation unravels, there is the possibility of establishing a declared or undeclared Salafist Principality in eastern Syria (Hasaka and Der Zor), and this is exactly what the supporting powers to the opposition want, in order to isolate the Syrian regime, which is considered the strategic depth of the Shia expansion (Iraq and Iran).’ Well, the situation did ‘unravel’ and sure enough, one group of former ‘freedom fighters’ metamorphosed into a band of sword-wielding, black-flag waving desert bandits who did indeed establish a Salafist Principality in eastern Syria with a ‘capital’ at Raqqa.
And while that surely takes the top spot on the list of ‘most absurd outcomes from US meddling in Syria’ a close second was this year’s ‘train and equip’ program run by the Pentagon.
This was a separate program from those run by the CIA (which supports the Free Syrian Army that’s now under siege by Russia and Iran) and the aim was to appropriately ‘vet’ as many as 5,400 anti-ISIS (supposedly) fighters by the end of the year.
The embarrassments began in earnest in July when the group (which numbered barely more than 50 at the time) had its commander and deputy kidnapped by al-Qaeda, who had already played spoiler to another group of US fighters in 2014.

Russia, Iran Begin “Promised” Assault On Syria’s Largest City In Final Bid To Restore Assad

Earlier this week, we noted that Iran had reportedly sent ‘thousands’ of troops to Syria in preparation for an offensive aimed at retaking the city of Aleppo.
With a population of more than 2 million, Aleppo was Syria’s largest city prior to the war and it’s now run by a hodgepodge of rebels and militants including al-Qaeda, the Free Syrian Army, and ISIS.
To get an idea of the effect the war has had on the city, have a look at the following before and after nighttime light emissions images:
