Putin to Barroso: ‘If I want, I’ll take Kiev in two weeks’

Ukraine, Putin’s blackmail on the European summit: ‘If I want to take Kiev in two weeks ‘
He says that when he asked about the military boundless in Ukraine, the Russian leader went to the threats: ‘The problem is this – it’s the answer told by Tsar Barroso – but what if I want to take Kiev in two weeks.’ As if to say, do not provoke me to anger with new sanctions. Even the British Cameron – that in view of the NATO summit Thursday in Cardiff is working in a multinational force of 10 thousand men to send a signal to the Kremlin – is drastic: ‘This time we can not meet the demands of Putin, has already taken the Crimea and we can not allow that to take over the country, we risk repeating the mistakes made ??in Monaco in ’38, do not know what will happen next. ‘ Prophetic since yesterday Putin has suggested negotiations to crystallize the situation in Crimea and other areas controlled by the separatists. Several delegations confirm the dialogue between the leaders, but in many invite you to weigh carefully since during an exchange ‘frank’ behind closed doors often the concepts are forced to support their position. Renzi invites colleagues to calm, said to understand the but concerns that Russia remains a strategic from the point of view of economic, energy and theaters of crisis in Syria and Iraq

More Sanctions: Europe Will Ban Purchase Of Russian Bonds; However Russian Gas Exports Remain Untouched

Over the weekend, insolvent, debt-dependent Europe thought long and hard how to best punish Russia and moments ago reached yet another milestone in deep projective thought: as Reuters reports, Europeans could be barred from buying new Russian government bonds “under a package of extra sanctions over Moscow’s military role in Ukraine that European Union ambassadors were to start discussing on Monday, three EU sources said.” This will be in addition to the ban on the debt funding of most Russian corporations. So as Europe’s 7-day ultimatum for the Kremlin to “de-escalate” counts down, Putin has a choice: continue operating under a budget surplus and ignore Europe’s latest and most amusing hollow threat which is merely a projection of Europe’s biggest fears, or spend himself into oblivion as Europe has done over the past decade and become a vassal state of the Frankfurt central bank.. Somehow we doubt Putin will lose too much sleep over this latest “escalation”…
Some more details on today’s latest threat by Europe, which if nothing else has sent the ruble to a fresh record low against the dollar, leaving Europe green with envy at such currency debasement, and boosting Russian exports even more:
German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who led the drive for a tougher EU response, said on Monday that Moscow’s behaviour in Ukraine must not go unanswered, even if sanctions hurt the German economy, heavily dependent on imported Russian gas. “I have said that (sanctions) can have an impact, also for German companies,” Merkel told a news conference in Berlin. “But I have to say there is also an impact when you are allowed to move borders in Europe and attack other countries with your troops,” she said. “Accepting Russia’s behaviour is not an option. And therefore it was necessary to prepare further sanctions.”

These Clowns Are Dragging Us Into War

These Clowns Are Dragging Us Into War
In 8 weeks, on October 26, there are – supposed to be – parliamentary elections in Ukraine. What’s that going to look like? Who’s going to vote? In the presidential elections a few months ago, most of east Ukraine did not vote. How many different ways are there to define democracy and still remain credible?
In an interview today on Russian Channel 1, Vladimir Putin commented on the upcoming elections: ‘All the participants in the electoral race will want to show how cool they are; Everyone will want to show they are strongmen or strongwomen, and as the political struggle sharpens it is hard to expect anyone to seek a peaceful resolution and not a military one.’ That would seem to be an accurate prediction.
The EU yesterday (in yet another definition of democracy) picked its new president. They chose Polish PM Donald Tusk, which may seem a bit strange since Tusk doesn’t speak a word of either English or French, and he comes from a nation that is not even in the Eurozone, yet he will now now get to chair meetings that concern the euro. But Tusk is a hawk on Russia, and therefore suspiciously convenient to the inner core of Washington and Brussels’ control apparatus. He’s said more bad and ugly things about Russia and Putin than just about anyone recently, and that’s saying something.
The US and EU have worked for years to see their desire to take over Ukraine come to fruition. They’ve come a long way, but they wanted Crimea and the Donbass region most of all, and those they still don’t have. Still, they’ve so far shown themselves more than willing to assist first in killing thousands of eastern Ukrainians to get what they want, and now they are prepared to start a war over it.

Putin Calls for Eastern Ukraine Statehood

Putin threw fat into the Ukrainian fire today by calling for Talks on Eastern Ukraine Statehood.
The question at hand is” What precisely does Putin mean by “statehood” ?
Russian President Vladimir Putin called on Sunday for immediate talks on the “statehood” of southern and eastern Ukraine, although his spokesman said this did not mean Moscow now endorsed rebel calls for independence for territory they have seized.
The Kremlin leader’s remarks, two days after a public appearance in which he compared the Kiev government with Nazis and warned the West not to “mess with us”, came as Europe and the United States prepared possible further sanctions to halt what they say is direct Russian military involvement in the war in Ukraine.

Libya May Be Focus Of Major Rift Between US And Regional Allies

Submitted by Defense & Foreign Affairs via OilPrice.com,
It had become clear by late August 2014 that Libya could no longer be seen as a unified state; at best it was in two parts, even with the communal leaderships of both sides professing a desire to resume national unity. By late August 2014, the country had two parliaments: one elected by the Libyan people, and the other given legitimacy solely by foreign support.
The situation seemed so intractable by that point that it was possible that a full military intervention by regional states, perhaps spearheaded by Egypt, could be attempted, with the goal of stabilizing the country and eliminating the foreign-funded and foreign-armed jihadis who were using Libya as a springboard for a proposed pro-Islamist war against the current Egyptian Government.
The proxy forces of the 2011 unilateral intervention by Qatar, supporting jihadis and the Muslim Brothers (Ikhwan), and by Turkey and the US, into the Cyrenaican revolt against Mu’ammar al-Qadhafi, were still dominating the Libyan political scene, much to the frustration of Libyan tribal forces.
Qatar was creating a ‘Free Egyptian Army’ in the Cyrenaica desert, and patterned on the ‘Free Syrian Army’ which Qatar, Turkey, and the US had built to challenge Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad.
Significantly, while the US and European Union (EU) continued in August 2014 to promote the concept of a unified Libya, they were basing their approach around what was essentially a modification of the mode of governance practiced by Mu’ammar al-Qadhafi, who seized power by a coup in 1969, and held it until 2011. Widespread Libyan calls for a return to the 1951 Constitution – drafted by the United Nations and the 140 or so Libyan tribes – have been consistently ignored by Washington and Brussels.
By August 2014, the foreign jihadist fighters – mainly linked to salafist groups and either directly or indirectly working with the Muslim Brothers (Ikhwan) – were still entrenched in Cyrenaica, in Eastern Libya (where the local moderate. anti-salafist Senussiyah sect of Islam predominates), supported by Qatar, Turkey, and the US Government. As well, they were entrenched around Tripoli.

This Is How ISIS Is Building An Airforce

The Islamic State is nothing if not ambitious. Despite no record of current ‘airplane’ assets in their annual reports, ISIS has begun detaining and forcing Syrian pilots to train militant fighters to fly stolen aircraft. According to CNN Arabic, the pilots (and their planes and helicopters) were abducted when the terrorist group gained control of Tabqa military base. It appears that if beheadings, executions, and whippings are not enough to strike fear into the hearts of the locals, then (just as America is tryiung to do), an air assault will greatly demoralize. We can only imagine how this changes Obama’s strategy (and just where are all the rest of Syria and Iraq’s airplanes stored?)

We care enough about sports to review ‘official’ calls, but not to review ‘official’ calls of ‘lawful’ wars?!?

If Americans applied their passion and expertise in sports laws to current US/UK/Israel/UN wars, the resultant outrage would quickly cause ‘leaders” arrests for obvious unlawful Wars of Aggression.
We care, appropriately, that sports law be reviewed for proper calls on the field of play. Examples include tennis, baseball, and football. The illegality of all current wars are easily proved by reviewing war law on that field: military armed attack is unlawful unless in response to military attack from another nation’s government.
Americans continue an Emperor’s New Clothes-like awakening that the UN Charter and US Constitution limits have long been rejected by our ‘leaders” preference for dictatorial power. In this one area of law to limit governments from war-murders, it’s easy to explain and prove that US/UK/Israel armed attacks are OBVIOUS unlawful Wars of Aggression:
The UN Charter is an active treaty. It’s one and only area of legal authority is to prevent Wars of Aggression. Article Six of the US Constitution defines a treaty as US ‘supreme Law of the Land;’ meaning that US policy can never violate it. Therefore, the UN Charter is US ‘supreme Law’ to never use military armed attacks upon a nation in all cases except a narrow definition of ‘self-defense’: when another nation’s government attacks first. The UK and Israel ratified the UN Charter over 60 years ago in agreement to its limits of armed attacks.

The West, the greatest cause of War in human history, stands stripped of all Legitimacy – Paul Craig Roberts

he Donetsk National Republic States The Facts
‘Every time you come to Russia with a sword, from a sword you will perish.’
The former Russian provinces, which Soviet party leaders carelessly attached to Ukraine at a time when it seemed to make no difference as all were part of the Soviet Union, are now independent republics with their own governments. The West pretends that this isn’t so, because Washington and its puppet capitals don’t recognize the independence of formerly captive peoples. But the West’s opinion no longer counts.
In the last couple of days the newly formed military units of the Donetsk National Republic have defeated and surrounded large portions of the remaining Ukrainian military. Russian President Putin asked the Donetsk Republic to allow the defeated Ukrainians to return home to their wives and mothers. The Donetsk Republic agreed to Putin’s mercy request as long as the Ukrainians left their weapons behind. The Donetsk Republic is short on weapons as, contrary to Western lies, the Donetsk Republic is not supplied with weapons by Russia.

Rumors of war: Iranian general threatens surprise attack on Israel

August 2014 – MIDDLE EAST – Iranian military leaders on Tuesday vowed that Tehran would take military action against Israel in response to an alleged Israeli drone that was shot down in Iran on Sunday. Iran ‘will not give a diplomatic response,’ but will air its grievances with Israel on the ‘battlefield,’ senior Iranian generals were quoted as saying on Tuesday. ‘Our response to this aggression will not be diplomatic, we will retaliate in the battlefield, but will not necessarily announce it,’ Brigadier General Hossein Salami, the Lieutenant Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) was quoted as saying during a ceremony on Tuesday meant to commemorate ‘martyred’ Iranian military personnel. ‘The enemy will see and understand it,’ Salami was quoted as saying by the semi official Fars News Agency. ‘We never step back (in the confrontation) against the enemy. The Islamic Republic is powerful and is capable of confronting any power at any level and we never bring down the level of our goals.’ The threat of a surprise attack against Israel for its apparent attempts to send a spy drone into Tehran came just a day after Iranian government officials threatened to sue Israel in the International Criminal Court. Iranian military leaders announced over the weekend that they had used a surface-to-air missile to shoot down a drone that it claimed was an Israeli-made Hermes 450 unmanned plane. The drone was allegedly on its way to the Natanz nuclear enrichment site, which is believed to be part of Iran’s clandestine attempts to build a nuclear weapon. ‘This hostile action is a violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty,’ Iranian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham was quoted as saying Monday by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Islamic State tortured James Foley, other Westerners with harsh CIA tactics

The American photojournalist who was beheaded by Islamic State militants was also tortured using some of the same methods employed by the CIA in its controversial, post-9/11 interrogation program.
James Foley was subjected to waterboarding multiple times while being imprisoned by the Islamic State, as were three other kidnapped Westerners. According to the Washington Post, several unnamed American officials confirmed the news, with one adding that Foley ‘suffered a lot of physical abuse’ before his death.
A French journalist who was held by the Islamic State along with Foley said, in addition to waterboarding, the American was punished even more than others after militants discovered his brother was a member of the US Air Force.
In a video released last week, Foley was beheaded by a masked, English-speaking Islamic State militant. The actions of the hardline Islamist group, which has brutally torn through parts of Iraq and Syria, have triggered a military response from the United States, and they described Foley’s murder as ‘a message to America’ for its use of airstrikes in Iraq.

UK Terror Threat Level Changed To Severe In Preparation For The False Flag Event – Episode 454

The following video was published by X22Report on Aug 29, 2014
The US Government is pushing the economic recovery very hard at this point. Chicago PMI bounced back, GDP, consumer confidence, stock market all up. The only problem is that the people are not spending, housing is down, people can’t find jobs. So the manipulated stats are losing credibility. FBI issued a report that the number one threat is domestic terrorists. Japan increases defense budget to purchase more military assets. UN unable to confirm Russian troops or military assets in Ukraine. US imposes more sanctions on Iran. UK goes on high terror alert, moves it to severe. Cyber attack and terror warning are being pushed by all corporate media outlets. Be prepared for a false flag.

Marc Faber Slams US Intervention In Middle East, Warns “Whole Region Will Blow Up”

Let’s talk about the ongoing power shift from the West to the East.
Well, basically, everything is connected and interrelated. We had a colonial system until the end of the Second World War, followed by the rise of individual countries. And over the last twenty-five to thirty years what we had was the rise of China with 1.3 billion people. Because of China’s rapid growth and resource dependence (iron ore, copper from Australia, Brazil and Africa, and oil principally from the Middle East), the Chinese have obviously become a very important economic force. Take Africa twelve years ago: trade between Africa and the US was twice the size of trade between Africa and China. But today, the situation is reversed.
As a result, China has gained large geopolitical influence due to its growing economic relations. This helped shift alliances from the US to the East, which has led to tensions. China has many provinces that are larger than a European country and as an economic block, China is huge! It dwarfs everything else in Asia. But now China is surrounded by military bases in Asia, by American aircraft carriers and by the signed defense treaties between the US and Japan.

Rand Paul Slams US Interventionists’ “Unhinged Foreign Policy” For Abetting The Rise Of ISIS

As the murderous, terrorist Islamic State continues to threaten Iraq, the region and potentially the United States, it is vitally important that we examine how this problem arose. Any actions we take today must be informed by what we’ve already done in the past, and how effective our actions have been.
Shooting first and asking questions later has never been a good foreign policy. The past year has been a perfect example.
In September President Obama and many in Washington were eager for a U. S. intervention in Syria to assist the rebel groups fighting President Bashar Assad’s government. Arguing against military strikes, I wrote that “Bashar Assad is clearly not an American ally. But does his ouster encourage stability in the Middle East, or would his ouster actually encourage instability?”
The administration’s goal has been to degrade Assad’s power, forcing him to negotiate with the rebels. But degrading Assad’s military capacity also degrades his ability to fend off the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. Assad’s government recently bombed the self-proclaimed capital of ISIS in Raqqa, Syria.

White House Scrambles To ‘Clarify’ Obama’s “ISIS Strategy”

“Strategy” or “No Strategy”? Minutes after last night’s admission by the President that “we don’t have a strategy yet,” the White House public relations department went into full damage control mode. Shameless spokesman Josh Earnest used the word “strategy” 33 times in a brief interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and this morning the “clarifications” continue. As NBC reports, ‘The president hasn’t yet laid out a specific plan for military action in Syria,’ White House press secretary Josh Earnest. ‘And the reason for that is simply that the Pentagon is still developing that plan and he is still reviewing it.’ This seems to us like yet another admission that there is ‘no strategy’ akin to being half pregnant.
Seemed pretty clear what he meant?

The Blueprint for World War III

This article is the first of a two part series which details the coming war. This war will not be a simple war of occupation such as what we saw in Iran and presently in Afghanistan. This war will be utterly devastating and has the potential to escalate into a conflict befitting the over-used term, ‘Armageddon’.
Part one of this series will present what boxing fans call, ‘the tale of tape’. The ‘tale of the tape’ entails identifying the combatants, their respective sides as well as the relative strengths of the participants and their military forces.
The Relative Strengths of Each Side
The coming war will largely feature what pundits call the BRIC nations and the USA and her allies. Each side of this coming conflict possesses widely divergent military strengths, weaknesses and strategies.
The US Is Dependent On a Devastating First Strike Attack
The United States and her allies have a decided advantage of quick strike, long range battlefield capabilities because of superior aircraft and carrier strike capabilities. The BRIC nations have an advantage with manpower, rocket propelled weapons and tanks. The USA and her allies cannot win a sustained battlefield campaign because of the attrition factor. The Chinese have demonstrated the ability to negate the United States Navy’s technological advantage through the use of killer satellites. Therefore, the entire US strategy is predicated on a first strike before the Chinese can destroy the majority of the eyes and ears of the US military, namely, its superior satellite capabilities in which the US forces can quickly locate and destroy the enemy with its smart weapons before the enemy knows what hit them.

Germany Unemployment Jumps

Merkel is under serious pressure from two fronts. The sanctions against Russia are having a major impact upon the European economy as a whole. This has caused Merkel to bluntly state that the US cannot solve all the problems of the world. Indeed, what she is not saying is that these US policies may be causing more problems than she can handle. Europe is caught between two warring powers, US and Russia, who are still stuck in the old empire way of thinking. Putin sees the power of a nation as its size and I cannot say that the US is that much different. OK, the US does not want to own the world, just occupy it militarily for power. just said ‘The United States is and will remain the one indispensable nation in the world…’. That statement is impossible for no nation can remain on top and that is the same thinking that existed in every empire from Babylon to Britain going into World War I. The US squanders its wealth on military and Putin wrongly thinks he needs territory to gain respect and power. Europe cannot impose economic sanctions on Russia without killing it’s already weak economy and Obama is too dense to understand that.

JPMorgan Warns Military Escalation In Ukraine “May Lead To A Lehman-Style Shock”

The sudden military escalation in Ukraine in recent days has, according to JPMorgan’s Alex Kantarovich, reduced the earlier hopes that the high level meeting in Minsk on 26 August would help to defuse the conflict. As Kantarovich warns, the markets are now bracing for the US/EU responses. In the worst case scenario, now appearing more likely, severe pressure on stocks may extend. As he concludes, “we believe that with the significant deterioration in the Ukrainian situation, markets may treat this as a Lehman-style shock.”
Via JPMorgan Cazenove,
Lehman moment. We believe that with the significant deterioration in the Ukrainian situation, markets may treat this as a Lehman-style shock. We note there are substantial fundamental differences between the current situation and the 2008/09 crisis; the oil price is now holding up relatively well and the economic contraction may not be that deep. On the other hand, for traded stocks, the challenges and risks to investability presented by sanctions could be practically open-ended. We demonstrate that revisiting the post-Lehman lows would imply downside of 50% from an index perspective, and ~40% from the forward P/E perspective (Fig. 1 and 2).

REPORT: PENTAGON FORCED MILITARY GEAR ON POLICE DEPARTMENTS

Following scrutiny surrounding the Ferguson uprising earlier this month, several local law enforcement agencies have stated that they wish to return military gear which they feel was somewhat forced onto them by The Department of Defense.
That has turned out to be easier said than done however, as the counties in which the sheriff’s offices and police departments are based are being asked to absorb the cost of transporting huge armored vehicles.
The details are revealed in a report by The Washington Times, which found ‘a number of departments complaining about the heavy armored vehicles that have been transferred, finding them to be overkill for the jobs local law enforcement needs to do.’
For example, the sheriff’s department in Chelan County, near Seattle, was forced to take three armored, tracked vehicles at the insistence of the Pentagon, when it had only asked for one in 1999.
The ten ton trucks, which were designed to carry 107 millimeter mortars, are still owned by The Pentagon. However, the military is less than keen to take them back.
‘We don’t care; we just want to get rid of them,’ said Undersheriff John Wisemore. ‘We realized they weren’t as safe for what we were going to be using them for.’
