US Boots in Iraq and Baltics, Authorization to Attack Syria…and US Troops in Ukraine!

It has been a busy week for US military planners. As the NATO summit in Wales kicks off today, with an expected agreement to create a “spearhead” force of up to 5,000 troops to rapidly deploy to any “hotspot” in eastern Europe, we learn that the US will also send several hundred troops to participate in NATO military exercises in Ukraine later this month. The exercises, provocatively named “Rapid Trident,” are said to be “a sign of the commitment of NATO states to support non-NATO member Ukraine…”As the civil war rages on in Kiev, with US-backed troops from Kiev fighting to suppress an independence movement in the east, the presence of US troops on Ukrainian soil sends a perhaps dangerously clear message of US willingness to become further involved in Ukraine’s internal affairs. Russia has been accused of military involvement on behalf of those seeking independence from Kiev, but Moscow denies any official Russian role. President Obama said Wednesday he wants “American boots on the ground, continuously rotating through Estonia and Latvia and Lithuania,” in response to Russian “aggression” in the region.

Russia Blasts NATO’s “Pre-Emptive Deployment” Plan For Undermining The Peace Process

As if like clockwork, on the heels of news from Russia of plans to shift their military doctrine towards pre-emptive reactions (and potential nuclear strikes), the NATO Summit has come out swinging with it’s own plan change:
*GEN. BRADSHAW, NATO’S DEPUTY SUPREME COMMANDER: NATO REACTION FORCE COULD BE DEPLOYED PREEMPTIVELY Russia’s response – “not surprised” NATO is trying to dominate Europe, adding that “NATO plans undermine the Ukraine peace process.”

Slovakia Asks EU to Cut Sanctions Some Against Russia

Slovakia speaks against some sanctions against Russia, proposed by the European Union, according to the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico.
“We have addressed the EU, asking them to remove some clauses from the sanctions proposal. We want a number of products included in the list to be exempt from sanctions, so that we can continue exporting them to Russia,” Fico said during press conference after a special meeting dedicated to the discussion of new EU sanctions against Russia.
The ministers, who took part in a meeting, spoke against proposed export ban on goods that can have both military and civilian use, aimed for Russian private companies. According to the ministers, some Slovak machine-tool makers may become bankrupt if sanctions become effective.

NATO to Ship Weapons to Kiev – But Don’t Call it Escalation!

Today in Cardiff, Wales, NATO agreed to provide $15 million to the Ukrainian government for “cyberdefense, logistics, rehabilitating soldiers injured by the rebels, and command, communications and control capabilities.” The government in Kiev has waged war against several regions in eastern Ukraine that have sought to break away from the west after a US-backed coup in February. Though NATO reportedly was unable to muster unanimous support among member states for direct, lethal military aid to Kiev, several NATO member countries are reported to have concluded bi-lateral agreements to provide high-precision rifles and other weapons to their western allies in Ukraine’s civil war. Sounding increasingly hysterical today, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen Tweeted that…

CB Propaganda: ISIS Establishment In Libya, Lebanon and Yemen Is Now Imminent- Episode 459

The following video was published by X22Report on Sep 4, 2014
ADP private payroll missed expectations. PMI has fallen for the 2nd month in a row. ECB cut rates to counter the declining Eurozone economy. The people want stricter boarders and no work permits for illegals. US and South Korea building special unit to destroy WMD in North Korea. Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire for Friday. President Obama continues beating the war drum. NATO has authorized military aid for Ukraine. David Cameron says the western world does not need Assad’s permission to bomb inside his country. The tribes of Libya and Yemen are ousting their government and now the central bankers/US Government are painting the picture that the Islamic State is now entering and forming in these countries.

Russian General Demands Preemptive Nuclear Strike Doctrine Against NATO

While NATO is contemplating its existential purpose in a world where the Cold War has suddenly come back with a vengeance, and the military alliance has found itself woefully unprepared to deal with a Russia which no longer accepts the supremacy of the west (appropriately enough NATO is doing this on a golf course) Russia is also strategizing, only instead of issuing “sharply-worded catchphrases” and hashtags, a Russian general has called for Russia to revamp its military doctrine, last updated in 2010, to clearly identify the U. S. and its NATO allies as Moscow’s enemy number one. That in itself is not disturbing: we reported as much yesterday and is merely more rhetorical posturing. Where things, however, get very problematic is that the general demands that Russia spell out the conditions under which the country would launch a preemptive nuclear strike against the 28-member military alliance.

Hey Joe Biden: Who’s ‘We,’ White Man?

When you believe something, facts become inconvenient obstacles – Andy Hall, ‘God of oil trading,’ who is betting huge against the oil shale fairytale (correctly, in my view)
Apparently Joe Biden, in a preview of his bid to take over the White House in 2016 (I can’t think of a better criminal to take over the seat) gave a speech today in New Hampshire in which he warned ISIS that ‘we would follow them to the gates of hell’ (link with video).
To that I say, ‘go ahead Joe, pick up a rifle and put your own fucking boots on the ground in Iraq.’
The U. S. Government/Pentagon/CIA started the mess in Iraq, so let the people in those comfy offices sitting behind desks go clean it up themselves. The inconvenient obstacle of truth is that, if in fact ISIS really is what the U. S. propagandists want us to believe it is, then it’s the biggest CIA/NSA/Dept of Defense of fuck up in the history of the country. The NSA knows when Angela Merkel farts. So they are telling me that they had no idea there was a large, nascent Islamic military organization that was well funded with $100′s of millions in banks all over the world and heavily armed with sophisticated weapons?

France Folds (Again): Reconsiders Mistral Warship Sale To Russia

Various US Senators applauded French President Hollande’s decision to suspend the Mistralk delivery to Russia. However, they may be disappointed today as, having clearly been reminded of the huge potential penalties that his nation would face (let alone lost revenue/rebates) if it were to cancel the delivery of 2 Mistral warships to Russia, Hollande “explained” today that the contract for the Mistral sale to Russia “is not broken or suspended” but will instead depend on events in the coming weeks. Ironically, the Russians may actually be pleased if the deal is canceled as they avoid overpaying for the ships and benefit from France’s weakening.
The US was very excited… U. S. Senators Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N. H.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), and Edward Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement regarding French President Francois Hollande’s decision to suspend warship delivery to Russia:
We commend President Hollande’s decision to suspend delivery of a Mistral-class warship to Russia. This announcement sends another clear message to Russia that its continued violation of Ukraine’s sovereignty will lead to severe consequences from the international community. As noted in our letter to President Hollande this summer, the delivery of two Mistral-class warships to the Russian Navy would enhance Russia’s ability to further intimidate neighboring countries and illegally seize sovereign territory. We will continue to urge President Hollande to end cooperation on future construction and sales of these warships to the Russian military. Together we must send an unwavering message to the Russian Federation that its illegal acts of aggression will not be tolerated.

PERFECT TIMING: CAMERON OPENS DOOR TO SYRIA AIR STRIKES 48 HOURS AFTER ISIS BEHEADING THREAT

The ISIS threat to behead British hostage David Haines couldn’t have been more impeccably timed for David Cameron, arriving less than 48 hours before a speech by the British Prime Minister in which he began to build a case for air strikes targeting Syria.
Haines appeared at the end of a video released on Tuesday which purported to show the beheading of American journalist Steven Sotloff. The ISIS militant in the footage threatens to kill Haines if the US and the UK do not ‘back off’ from fighting ISIS.
At the start of the NATO summit in Wales this morning, Cameron cited the video as one of the reasons why air strikes on Syria cannot be ruled out, as he began re-building a case for military aggression that failed last year following dubious claims about who was responsible for the Ghouta chemical weapons attack.
For Cameron, who has been struggling to build political support for air strikes on ISIS, the threat to behead Haines couldn’t have been more timely.
And therein lies the completely illogical foundation of the alleged beheading videos. The release of the footage does nothing to encourage the US and the UK to ‘back off’ fighting ISIS, it achieves the exact opposite, creating a casus belli for expanded western military operations in the middle east.

NATO Secretary General Expects Wales Summit to Make History

NATO is preparing for the start of an intense two-day Summit in Wales on Thursday that will "address current and future security challenges," including Russian military aggression and the rise of extremism in the Middle East and North Africa.
"This is a time of multiple crises on several fronts," NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen remarked on Monday. "To the east, Russia is intervening overtly in Ukraine. To the south, we see growing instability, with fragile states, the rise of extremism, and sectarian strife."
Rasmussen added that he expects the gathering "to be a crucial summit in NATO's history."

Remembering Eugene V. Debs’ Imprisonment for Speaking Against War

Eugene V. Debs nearly 100 years ago was a political prisoner in the United States for the ‘crime’ of opposing the United States government’s participation in World War I and conscription of people to fight in that war. In March of 1919, the US Supreme Court, pointing to the Espionage Act of 1917 for justification, upheld Debs’ conviction by a trial jury and ten-year prison sentence for making antiwar comments in a June 16, 1918 Canton, Ohio speech. Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. wrote the Supreme Court’s short Debs v. United States opinion that upheld the conviction and ten-year prison sentence of Debs for two charges that Holmes described as follows:
This is an indictment under the Espionage Act of June 15, 1917… It has been cut down to two counts, originally the third and fourth. The former of these alleges that on or about June 16, 1918, at Canton, Ohio, the defendant caused and incited and attempted to cause and incite insubordination, disloyalty, mutiny and refusal of duty in the military and naval forces of the United States and with intent so to do delivered, to an assembly of people, a public speech, set forth. The fourth count alleges that he obstructed and attempted to obstruct the recruiting and enlistment service of the United States and to that end and with that intent delivered the same speech, again set forth.
In effect, Debs was incarcerated for exercising his right to free speech regarding two political matters – the US government choosing to participate in World War I and the US government using the draft to help fight that war. One may expect the justices to have reread the First Amendment to the US Constitution and promptly overturned Debs’ conviction. However, Holmes explains that a prior Supreme Court decision had already settled the inapplicability of Debs’ First Amendment defense.

Western Doublethink on Blind Path to War

In October 1962, the United States threatened to go to war with Russia over the Cuban missile crisis. That high-stakes drama came about after Washington learned that Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev had overseen the installation of ballistic missiles on the Caribbean island, some 90 miles from the US mainland. Never mind that the nascent military alliance between Moscow and the socialist government of Fidel Castro was a inviolable matter between two sovereign states – Washington was apoplectic that Soviet missiles were permitted anywhere near its territory. The then US President John F Kennedy was impelled to go to war over the issue, even if that meant igniting an all-out thermonuclear conflagration. In the end, the standoff was resolved, in part through a mutual personal understanding between Kennedy and Khrushchev that such a catastrophic war had to be avoided at all costs. The Soviet Union eventually withdrew its missiles after receiving a guarantee from the White House that there would no follow-up US invasion of Cuba, as in the failed CIA-backed Bay of Pigs assault of April 1961. In addition, Kennedy gave a commitment to reciprocate US missile withdrawal from Turkey’s territory bordering with the former Soviet Union.

Falsehoods in the NYT’s Editorial, ‘Mr. Putin Tests the West in Ukraine’

The only way to expose lies is within context; so, this will have to be lengthy.
The Times editorial opens with a falsehood: ‘There is no longer any doubt: Russian troops are in Ukraine, not as volunteers, as the rebel commander in Donetsk would have the world believe, but in units equipped with mobile artillery and heavy military equipment.’ Their only cited source for that statement is ‘a senior NATO officer.’ But should anyone take as a source, on that type of matter, either an anonymous U. S.-NATO official, or an anonymous Russian official? That’s hardly an unprejudiced ‘source,’ in either case – and it’s their only source on this.
The context here has to be understood: During the run-up to our 19 March 2003 invasion of Iraq, the Times was similarly taking, as sources, anonymous U. S. officials, who lied about the evidence, saying that aluminum tubes were definitely being used for making weapons of mass destruction, when they weren’t at all, and that ‘uranium from Niger’ was being snuk into Iraq for nuclear bombs that were also a fabrication – outright forged ‘evidence,’ selectively accepted, while the Times selectively rejected, and avoided even to mention, far more-solid evidence to the exact contrary. They wanted us to invade, and we did. The Times apologized for their ‘errors’ years later, after the damage had already been done – damage (many thousands of corpses, and several trillions of dollars in costs) that the Times greatly assisted George W. Bush to produce, by helping to sell the country on doing it.

09.03 0530 ET BREAKING NEWS: Poroshenko Agrees to Ceasefire in Ukraine Civil War

The Kremlin’s website had the following statement also:
Vladimir Putin has had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
An in-depth discussion of the military and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine was continued. The heads of state exchanged opinions on what needs to be done as a matter of priority to ensure a speedy end to the bloodshed in the south-east of the country.
The views of the presidents of the two countries on the possible ways out of the crisis were, to a large extent, the same.

Warning to the World: Washington and its NATO & EU Vassals are Insane – Paul Craig Roberts

Herbert E. Meyer, a nutcase who was a special assistant to the CIA director for a period during the Reagan administration, has penned an article calling for Russian President Putin’s assassination. If we have ‘ to get him out of the Kremlin feet-first with a bullet hole in the back of his head, that would be okay with us.’ As the crazed Meyer illiustrates, the insanity that Washington has released upon the world knows no restraint. Jose Manual Barroso, installed as Washington’s puppet as European Commission President, misrepresented his recent confidential telephone conversation with Russia’s President Putin by telling the media that Putin issued a threat: ‘If I want to, I can take Kiev in two weeks.’
Clearly, Putin did not issue a threat. A threat would be inconsistent with Putin’s entire unprovocative approach to the strategic threat that Washington and its NATO puppets have brought to Russia in Ukraine. Russia’s permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, said that if Barroso’s lie stands, Russia will make public the full recording of the conversation
Anyone familiar with the disparity between the Ukrainian and Russian militaries knows full well that it would take the Russian military 14 hours, not 14 days, to take all of Ukraine. Just remember what happened to the American and Israeli trained and equipped Georgian Army when Washington set its stupid Georgian puppets on South Ossetia. The American and Israeli trained and equipped Georgian army collapsed under Russian counterattack in 5 hours.
The lie that Washington’s puppet Barroso told was not worthy of a serious person. But where in Europe is there a serious person in power? Nowhere. The few serious people are all out of power. Consider the NATO Secretary General, Anders Rasmussen. He was a prime minister of Denmark who saw he could rise beyond Denmark by serving as Washington’s puppet. As prime minister he strongly supported Washington’s illegal invasion of Iraq, declaring that ‘we know that Saddam Hussein has weapons of mass destruction.’ Of course, the fool didn’t know any such thing, and why would it matter if Iraq did have such weapons. Many countries have weapons of mass destruction.

Cold War About to Turn Hot? Putin Warns Europe “I can Take Kiev in Two Weeks”; WW III Not a Good Option

People keep asking why I have a spotlight on Ukraine and not Gaza. It should be obvious. The economic impact of the Civil war in Ukraine has a huge European economic interest. Moreover, risk of further escalation involving Russia and the US looms large. The Financial Times reports Debate Heats Up in US and Europe Over Arming Kiev.
As Barack Obama departs for Europe to attend a crucial NATO summit, the US president is facing fresh pressure at home to provide weapons to Ukraine, including from senior members of his own party. European governments are also considering the wisdom of sending arms to Ukraine, with many leaders from eastern Europe eager to do more to help Kiev, while western European governments remain cautious.’I think it is very important to recognise that a military solution to this problem is not going to be forthcoming,’ Mr Obama said last week.
But even leading members of his own party have joined Republican critics to call for more assistance to Kiev. Adam Smith, the leading Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, said at the weekend that the US should help Ukraine build ‘a more capable fighting force to resist’ Russia.

Memo To Washington: Iraq Is Not A Nation And You Can’t Build One There With Bombs

Washington’s strategy in Iraq is in shambles, but not just because America’s spanker-in-chief is really a wimp at heart. The problem is far more generic. To wit, the geographic territory of Iraq is not a nation; it is an arbitrary series of lines on a map drawn 100 years ago by dandies in the foreign offices of two fading empires (the British and the French) – – which lines encircled numerous tribes, ethnicities and religious confessions that had no interest in sharing a common statehood.
In the subsequent century, the warring peoples corralled within the Sykes-Picot boundaries were ram-rodded into a tenuous co-existence by a series of brutal monarchs, generals and dictators, backed up by British and American occupiers. But then the neo-con geniuses in the George W. Bush Administration hung the last dictator and the poll readers in the Obama White House had the good sense to adhere to their campaign pledge and bug out.
They left behind $25 billion in military training and state-of-the-art warfare equipment, but neither a dictator nor a nation. Indeed, under the latter heading they had endeavored to build a nation where there had been none, but ended up liquidating the machinery – – the Republican Guards and the Baathist political party – that in the most recent era had enforced co-existence with machine guns and poison gas canisters.
Foolishly claiming America’s job was done at the end of 2011 when the last GIs boarded transports out of Bagdad, Barrack Obama was actually opening the gates of hell without a clue as to the furies that would soon come swarming through. Well, they are all here now with blood soaked hands grasping their weapons and agitated tongues issuing the spittle of revenge and historic enmities.

US Troops Are Heading To Ukraine

While only ‘humanitarian adviser’ boots on the ground are present in Iraq (and Syria), Reuters reports that preparations are under way near Ukraine’s western border for a joint military exercise this month with more than 1,000 troops from the United States and its allies. As Obama told reporters last week, “that a military solution to this problem is not going to be forthcoming,” it seems a little odd ‘strategically’ to go ahead with the Rapid Trident exercise Sept. 16-26 as a sign of the commitment of NATO states to support non-NATO member Ukraine, entailing the first significant deployment of U. S. and other personnel to Ukraine since the crisis erupted.
As Reuters reports,
