Islamic State tortured James Foley, other Westerners with harsh CIA tactics

The American photojournalist who was beheaded by Islamic State militants was also tortured using some of the same methods employed by the CIA in its controversial, post-9/11 interrogation program.
James Foley was subjected to waterboarding multiple times while being imprisoned by the Islamic State, as were three other kidnapped Westerners. According to the Washington Post, several unnamed American officials confirmed the news, with one adding that Foley ‘suffered a lot of physical abuse’ before his death.
A French journalist who was held by the Islamic State along with Foley said, in addition to waterboarding, the American was punished even more than others after militants discovered his brother was a member of the US Air Force.
In a video released last week, Foley was beheaded by a masked, English-speaking Islamic State militant. The actions of the hardline Islamist group, which has brutally torn through parts of Iraq and Syria, have triggered a military response from the United States, and they described Foley’s murder as ‘a message to America’ for its use of airstrikes in Iraq.

UK Terror Threat Level Changed To Severe In Preparation For The False Flag Event – Episode 454

The following video was published by X22Report on Aug 29, 2014
The US Government is pushing the economic recovery very hard at this point. Chicago PMI bounced back, GDP, consumer confidence, stock market all up. The only problem is that the people are not spending, housing is down, people can’t find jobs. So the manipulated stats are losing credibility. FBI issued a report that the number one threat is domestic terrorists. Japan increases defense budget to purchase more military assets. UN unable to confirm Russian troops or military assets in Ukraine. US imposes more sanctions on Iran. UK goes on high terror alert, moves it to severe. Cyber attack and terror warning are being pushed by all corporate media outlets. Be prepared for a false flag.

Marc Faber Slams US Intervention In Middle East, Warns “Whole Region Will Blow Up”

Let’s talk about the ongoing power shift from the West to the East.
Well, basically, everything is connected and interrelated. We had a colonial system until the end of the Second World War, followed by the rise of individual countries. And over the last twenty-five to thirty years what we had was the rise of China with 1.3 billion people. Because of China’s rapid growth and resource dependence (iron ore, copper from Australia, Brazil and Africa, and oil principally from the Middle East), the Chinese have obviously become a very important economic force. Take Africa twelve years ago: trade between Africa and the US was twice the size of trade between Africa and China. But today, the situation is reversed.
As a result, China has gained large geopolitical influence due to its growing economic relations. This helped shift alliances from the US to the East, which has led to tensions. China has many provinces that are larger than a European country and as an economic block, China is huge! It dwarfs everything else in Asia. But now China is surrounded by military bases in Asia, by American aircraft carriers and by the signed defense treaties between the US and Japan.

Rand Paul Slams US Interventionists’ “Unhinged Foreign Policy” For Abetting The Rise Of ISIS

As the murderous, terrorist Islamic State continues to threaten Iraq, the region and potentially the United States, it is vitally important that we examine how this problem arose. Any actions we take today must be informed by what we’ve already done in the past, and how effective our actions have been.
Shooting first and asking questions later has never been a good foreign policy. The past year has been a perfect example.
In September President Obama and many in Washington were eager for a U. S. intervention in Syria to assist the rebel groups fighting President Bashar Assad’s government. Arguing against military strikes, I wrote that “Bashar Assad is clearly not an American ally. But does his ouster encourage stability in the Middle East, or would his ouster actually encourage instability?”
The administration’s goal has been to degrade Assad’s power, forcing him to negotiate with the rebels. But degrading Assad’s military capacity also degrades his ability to fend off the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. Assad’s government recently bombed the self-proclaimed capital of ISIS in Raqqa, Syria.

White House Scrambles To ‘Clarify’ Obama’s “ISIS Strategy”

“Strategy” or “No Strategy”? Minutes after last night’s admission by the President that “we don’t have a strategy yet,” the White House public relations department went into full damage control mode. Shameless spokesman Josh Earnest used the word “strategy” 33 times in a brief interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and this morning the “clarifications” continue. As NBC reports, ‘The president hasn’t yet laid out a specific plan for military action in Syria,’ White House press secretary Josh Earnest. ‘And the reason for that is simply that the Pentagon is still developing that plan and he is still reviewing it.’ This seems to us like yet another admission that there is ‘no strategy’ akin to being half pregnant.
Seemed pretty clear what he meant?

The Blueprint for World War III

This article is the first of a two part series which details the coming war. This war will not be a simple war of occupation such as what we saw in Iran and presently in Afghanistan. This war will be utterly devastating and has the potential to escalate into a conflict befitting the over-used term, ‘Armageddon’.
Part one of this series will present what boxing fans call, ‘the tale of tape’. The ‘tale of the tape’ entails identifying the combatants, their respective sides as well as the relative strengths of the participants and their military forces.
The Relative Strengths of Each Side
The coming war will largely feature what pundits call the BRIC nations and the USA and her allies. Each side of this coming conflict possesses widely divergent military strengths, weaknesses and strategies.
The US Is Dependent On a Devastating First Strike Attack
The United States and her allies have a decided advantage of quick strike, long range battlefield capabilities because of superior aircraft and carrier strike capabilities. The BRIC nations have an advantage with manpower, rocket propelled weapons and tanks. The USA and her allies cannot win a sustained battlefield campaign because of the attrition factor. The Chinese have demonstrated the ability to negate the United States Navy’s technological advantage through the use of killer satellites. Therefore, the entire US strategy is predicated on a first strike before the Chinese can destroy the majority of the eyes and ears of the US military, namely, its superior satellite capabilities in which the US forces can quickly locate and destroy the enemy with its smart weapons before the enemy knows what hit them.

Germany Unemployment Jumps

Merkel is under serious pressure from two fronts. The sanctions against Russia are having a major impact upon the European economy as a whole. This has caused Merkel to bluntly state that the US cannot solve all the problems of the world. Indeed, what she is not saying is that these US policies may be causing more problems than she can handle. Europe is caught between two warring powers, US and Russia, who are still stuck in the old empire way of thinking. Putin sees the power of a nation as its size and I cannot say that the US is that much different. OK, the US does not want to own the world, just occupy it militarily for power. just said ‘The United States is and will remain the one indispensable nation in the world…’. That statement is impossible for no nation can remain on top and that is the same thinking that existed in every empire from Babylon to Britain going into World War I. The US squanders its wealth on military and Putin wrongly thinks he needs territory to gain respect and power. Europe cannot impose economic sanctions on Russia without killing it’s already weak economy and Obama is too dense to understand that.

JPMorgan Warns Military Escalation In Ukraine “May Lead To A Lehman-Style Shock”

The sudden military escalation in Ukraine in recent days has, according to JPMorgan’s Alex Kantarovich, reduced the earlier hopes that the high level meeting in Minsk on 26 August would help to defuse the conflict. As Kantarovich warns, the markets are now bracing for the US/EU responses. In the worst case scenario, now appearing more likely, severe pressure on stocks may extend. As he concludes, “we believe that with the significant deterioration in the Ukrainian situation, markets may treat this as a Lehman-style shock.”
Via JPMorgan Cazenove,
Lehman moment. We believe that with the significant deterioration in the Ukrainian situation, markets may treat this as a Lehman-style shock. We note there are substantial fundamental differences between the current situation and the 2008/09 crisis; the oil price is now holding up relatively well and the economic contraction may not be that deep. On the other hand, for traded stocks, the challenges and risks to investability presented by sanctions could be practically open-ended. We demonstrate that revisiting the post-Lehman lows would imply downside of 50% from an index perspective, and ~40% from the forward P/E perspective (Fig. 1 and 2).

REPORT: PENTAGON FORCED MILITARY GEAR ON POLICE DEPARTMENTS

Following scrutiny surrounding the Ferguson uprising earlier this month, several local law enforcement agencies have stated that they wish to return military gear which they feel was somewhat forced onto them by The Department of Defense.
That has turned out to be easier said than done however, as the counties in which the sheriff’s offices and police departments are based are being asked to absorb the cost of transporting huge armored vehicles.
The details are revealed in a report by The Washington Times, which found ‘a number of departments complaining about the heavy armored vehicles that have been transferred, finding them to be overkill for the jobs local law enforcement needs to do.’
For example, the sheriff’s department in Chelan County, near Seattle, was forced to take three armored, tracked vehicles at the insistence of the Pentagon, when it had only asked for one in 1999.
The ten ton trucks, which were designed to carry 107 millimeter mortars, are still owned by The Pentagon. However, the military is less than keen to take them back.
‘We don’t care; we just want to get rid of them,’ said Undersheriff John Wisemore. ‘We realized they weren’t as safe for what we were going to be using them for.’

Washington Piles Lie Upon Lie – Paul Craig Roberts

The latest Washington lie, this one coming from NATO, is that Russia has invaded Ukraine with 1,000 troops and self-propelled artillery.
How do we know that this is a lie? Is it because we have heard nothing but lies about Russia from NATO, from US ambassador to the UN Samantha Power, from assistant secretary of state Victoria Nuland, from Obama and his entire regime of pathological liars, and from the British, German, and French governments along with the BBC and the entirety of the Western media?
This, of course, is a good reason for knowing that the latest Western propaganda is a lie. Those who are pathological liars don’t suddenly start telling the truth.
But there are even better reasons for understanding that Russia has not invaded Ukraine with 1,000 troops.
One reason is that Putin has invested heavily in diplomacy backed by unprovocative behavior. He would not risk his bet on diplomacy by sending in troops too few in number to have a decisive effect on the outcome.
Another reason is that if Putin decides he has no alternative to sending the Russian military to protect the Russian residents in eastern and southern Ukraine, Putin will send in enough troops to do the job quickly as he did in Georgia when the American and Israeli trained Georgian army invaded South Ossetia and was destroyed in a few hours by the Russian response. If you hear that 100,000 Russian troops accompanied by air cover have invaded Ukraine, it would be a more believable claim.

City Council to Police: You Have 60 Days to Get Rid of Your MRAP Military Tank

Apparently not all city councils are thrilled with the idea of their local police department driving around ‘protecting’ their streets with mine resistant, ambush protected vehicles straight off the battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The city council of Davis, California, a town of about 66,000 people near Sacramento, has now adopted a resolution to ‘tank the tank’ as one protester put it, after a large crowd of concerned citizens showed up to the council’s most recent meeting. CBS13 reports:
The vehicle, worth nearly $700,000 didn’t cost the Davis Police Department a dime, as it was acquired through a federal government surplus program. The MRAP was developed by the military for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. After Pentagon budget cuts, the vehicle has been making its way to local law enforcement…
A big concern for protesters is the vehicle could be used to quash peaceful protests and demonstrations, especially in light of clashes between heavily-armored police and protesters in Ferguson, Missouri, following the shooting death of Michael Brown.

Russia Invades Ukraine, ISIS Update, Israel-Hamas Cease Fire and More!

The following video was published by Greg Hunter on Aug 28, 2014
I have been predicting wider war in Ukraine, and now we have one with the Russian invasion of Eastern Ukraine. The President said in a press conference that there is not going to be a military response to this escalation, but my sources say the U. S. has been covertly helping the Ukrainians. How do you think they have been able to overtake the pro-Russian separatists in Eastern Ukraine? Looks like Vladimir Putin has had enough and is now directly involved with his military.
Meanwhile, in the Middle East, everyone is talking about ISIS or ISIL or, simply, the Islamic State. The Islamic State has taken over large parts of Iraq and Syria. Now, the Islamic State is threatening the Golan Heights on the Northern Israeli border. The President said in a press conference he ‘did not have a strategy’ for dealing with the Islamic State. What??? This after the Secretary of Defense and the head of the Joint Chiefs gave a press conference that said the Islamic State was an ‘imminent threat’ and that IS was ‘not like anything we have seen.’
The Israelis and Hamas have agreed to another cease-fire. The Israelis wanted Hamas to disarm before they opened the borders of Gaza and extended fishing off the coast. The new cease-fire allows the borders to be open for humanitarian aid and construction material to rebuild Gaza. Hamas did not agree to disarm. So, why did the Israelis cave in? I think that the military wing of Hamas has been damaged so badly that it is now much less of a threat. Israel sees wider war coming and wants Washington to resupply it with offensive weapons such as Sidewinder missiles that the Obama Administration stopped recently.

08.27.14 1830 ET: Reports Russian Armor has Invaded Ukraine, Heading towards Mariupol

While the ‘one’ continues to golf, the world moves forward in a perilous fashion. Reports are coming from the Ukrainian government and numerous reliable sources via Twitter and domestic news services that Russian troops have indeed crossed the frontier in Southeastern Ukraine and are well on their way to sealing the escape routes via the Sea of Azov creating panic in Kiev as the Ukrainian military appears to be disintegrating in the Donbas and facing possible annihilation in retaliation for the actions of the mercenary forces recruited by the Poroshenko government.

Is a Nationwide Local Government Backlash Against Police Militarization Beginning?

KCRA TV is reporting that the Davis, California City Council voted Tuesday evening, after hearing from concerned people at the city council’s meeting, to get rid of the police department’s Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected military vehicle. The police department had obtained the MRAP, which is valued at nearly $700,000, for free recently from the US government. Will Davis, California one day be seen as the beginning of a nationwide local government backlash against police militarization in the US?

Jane’s Defense Caught With Pants Down: Ukraine Admits Rebel Counteroffensive, Including March to the Sea

Jane’s Defense vs. Colonel Cassad Take II
In response to Jane’s Defense vs. Colonel Cassad: Someone Seriously Wrong, a close friend wrote …
Jane’s has been in business giving good advice for a century and could only do so by giving good advice. Everything I have read suggests that the rebels (who include a lot of Russian paramilitary) would have been about finished this past week, but for supplies coming in through Russian interference. The captured Russian soldiers two days ago day only make the interference look more like direct assault. Colonel Cassad, on the other hand, appears to be a complete whack job who idolizes Joseph Stalin and thinks Putin is to weak.
My Response The political views of Colonel Cassad, whether you like him or despise him are irrelevant. His military analysis, denied by Kiev for the past two weeks, took precisely one more day to prove correct.
March to the SeaFor several days, I have been commenting on a rebel “march to the sea”, and the meaning of that march. On Wednesday, mainstream news verified the accuracy of my reports. For no other reason than Ukraine could no longer hide the truth, Ukraine finally admitted what it could have and should have admitted a week ago: Rebels extend fight against Kiev to Ukraine’s south coast

NATO Says Over 1000 Russian Troops In Ukraine, “Extremely Worrying… Dire Situation”

Hot on the heels of Ukraine’s claims of ‘invasion’ and retraction of said claim, NATO is once again stepping in with strong claims about Russian ‘incursions’:
*NATO OFFICER: ESTIMATED 20,000 RUSSIAN TROOPS NEAR UKRAINE (not 17 or 45?) *NATO OFFICER: OVER 1,000 RUSSIAN TROOPS OPERATING IN UKRAINE *NATO OFFICER: 2ND FRONT RISKS CUTTING UKRAINE ARMY SUPPLY LINES *NATO OFFICER: NEW 2ND FRONT ‘EXTREMELY WORRYING’ FOR UKRAINE While NATO statements in the past have caused dramatic weakness in stocks (or been entirely shurgged off), it appears this time markets are taking their concerns more seriously as the officer states Ukraine’s forces are in a “dire situation.”
As Bloomberg reports,
NATO estimates there are currently 20,000 Russian troops in the border region to Ukraine, says a North Atlantic Treaty Organization military officer speaking to reporters today on condition of anonymity at supreme headquarters in Mons, Belgium. Well over 1,000 Russian troops now operating inside Ukraine: officer
Russian troops in Ukraine operating advanced equipment, serving as advisers for separatists: officer
As a result of Ukraine becoming more effective militarily starting in July, there has been a real upsurge in Russian activities of late. Cross border support, firing of rockets and artillery shells across border, supply of more weapons: officer

CALIFORNIA POLICE DEPARTMENT ORDERED TO GET RID OF MRAP MILITARY VEHICLE

In the aftermath of unrest in Ferguson, Missouri, Davis City Council has ordered its police department to get rid of an MRAP military vehicle within 60 days.
The $700,000 dollar vehicle was acquired for free just a few weeks ago through the U. S. military surplus program that has seen police departments across America obtain vehicles and equipment that were formerly used by the Army to occupy towns and hunt insurgents.
However, after numerous complaints and protests by residents, Davis City Council has given its police department two months to either destroy or otherwise remove from operation the mine resistant ambush vehicle.

The Leninist in the White House – Paul Craig Roberts

According to Lenin, the Soviet government rested ‘directly on force, not limited by anything, not restricted by any laws, nor any absolute rules.’ (V. I. Lenin, ‘A Contribution to the History of the Question of the Dictatorship,’ October 20, 1920, in Collected Works, 4th Russian edition, p. 326.)
In the 21st century the US government has echoed Lenin. No laws, domestic or international, restrain the US from torture. Laws do not prevent the US from attacking sovereign countries or from conducting military operations within the borders of sovereign countries. Constitutional protections and due process do not prevent the US from detaining citizens indefinitely or from murdering them on suspicion or accusation alone.
The latest manifestation of Washington’s Leninism is Washington’s announcement that the US government has no plans to coordinate US attacks on ISIS on Syrian territory with the Syrian government. Washington recognizes no limitations on its use of force, and the sovereignty of countries provides no inhibition.

Dangerous Crossroads: US-NATO To Deploy Ground Troops, Conduct Large Scale Naval Exercises against ‘Unnamed Enemy’

By professor Michel Chossudovsky of Global Research.
The World is at a dangerous Crossroads.
The Western military alliance is in an advanced state of readiness. And so is Russia.
Russia is heralded as the ‘Aggressor’. US-NATO military confrontation with Russia is contemplated.
Enabling legislation in the US Senate under ‘The Russian Aggression Prevention Act’ (RAPA) has ‘set the US on a path towards direct military conflict with Russia in Ukraine.’
Any US-Russian war is likely to quickly escalate into a nuclear war, since neither the US nor Russia would be willing to admit defeat, both have many thousands of nuclear weapons ready for instant use, and both rely upon Counterforce military doctrine that tasks their military, in the event of war, to preemptively destroy the nuclear forces of the enemy. (See Steven Starr, Global Research, August 22, 2014)
The Russian Aggression Prevention Act (RAPA) is the culmination of more than twenty years of US-NATO war preparations, which consist in the military encirclement of both Russia and China:
From the moment the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the United States has relentlessly pursued a strategy of encircling Russia, just as it has with other perceived enemies like China and Iran. It has brought 12 countries in central Europe, all of them formerly allied with Moscow, into the NATO alliance. US military power is now directly on Russia’s borders. (Steven Kinzer, Boston Globe, March 3, 2014, emphasis added)
NATO’s top commander in Europe General Philip Breedlove (right) (AFP Photo / John Thys)
On July 24, in consultation with the Pentagon, NATO’s Europe commander General Philip Breedlove called for ‘stockpiling a base in Poland with enough weapons, ammunition and other supplies to support a rapid deployment of thousands of troops against Russia’.(RT, July 24, 2014). According to General Breedlove, NATO needs ‘pre-positioned supplies, pre-positioned capabilities and a basing area ready to rapidly accept follow-on forces’:
‘He plans to recommend placing supplies – weapons, ammunition and ration packs – at the headquarters to enable a sudden influx of thousands of Nato troops’ (Times, August 22, 2014, emphasis added)

18 Signs That The Obama Administration Is Openly Hostile To The Military

Has there ever been an administration that has had more disdain for the U. S. military than the Obama administration? The way that this administration treats our veterans and the way that this administration is gutting our armed forces is absolutely shameful. As you will read about below, Obama and his minions have been purging the military of officers that do not agree with their agenda, they have labeled veterans returning from overseas wars as ‘potential terrorists’, and they have turned our military into a playground for political correctness and social experiments. Not that Obama has been afraid to use the military. In fact, he has sent troops more places than just about any other president in U. S. history. He is running our brave men and women into the ground at the same time that he is relentlessly reducing the size of the Army, Navy and Air Force. As a result, our armed forces are smaller, weaker, more spread out and less prepared for a major war than at any other time in recent memory. Please share this article with as many people as you can. The American people deserve to know the truth. The following are 18 signs that the Obama administration is openly hostile to the military…
