President Putin – ‘Ramping up Military Hysteria’ Against North Korea Could Lead to Planetary Melt Down

21st Century Wire says…
It is pretty rare these days, to hear diplomats or even world leaders in the west utter words of wisdom. It comes as a shock, therefore when a global player offers an insight that actually makes sense. That is exactly what President Vladimir Putin of Russia just did at a news conference after the BRICS Summit in Xiamen, China September 5, 2017.
This report from RT:
‘The examples of Iraq and Libya have convinced the North Korean leadership that only nuclear deterrence can protect them, so no sanctions can dissuade them, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. Pyongyang will not relinquish its military program under pressure of sanctions and military threats, because the examples of Iraq and Libya have convinced it that nuclear deterrence is the only credible way to ensure its security, President Putin told journalists on Tuesday.
Ramping up military hysteria in such conditions is senseless; it’s a dead end,’ he added. ‘It could lead to a global, planetary catastrophe and a huge loss of human life. There is no other way to solve the North Korean nuclear issue, save that of peaceful dialogue.’
The 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq and the 2011 NATO intervention in Libya both came after the leaders of those countries submitted to international pressure and relinquished their programs of weapons of mass destruction in exchange for sanctions relief.

Obama Responds To Trump’s DACA Decision

Just as he promised, former President Barack Obama has “spoken out” against President Trump’s decision to rescind Obama’s “legally disrespectful” immigration plan.
Via President Obama’s Facebook page:
Immigration can be a controversial topic. We all want safe, secure borders and a dynamic economy, and people of goodwill can have legitimate disagreements about how to fix our immigration system so that everybody plays by the rules.
But that’s not what the action that the White House took today is about. This is about young people who grew up in America – kids who study in our schools, young adults who are starting careers, patriots who pledge allegiance to our flag. These Dreamers are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper. They were brought to this country by their parents, sometimes even as infants. They may not know a country besides ours. They may not even know a language besides English. They often have no idea they’re undocumented until they apply for a job, or college, or a driver’s license.
Over the years, politicians of both parties have worked together to write legislation that would have told these young people – our young people – that if your parents brought you here as a child, if you’ve been here a certain number of years, and if you’re willing to go to college or serve in our military, then you’ll get a chance to stay and earn your citizenship. And for years while I was President, I asked Congress to send me such a bill.

Freedom from mind controlled education

Over the past few years, I’ve written extensively about clap-trap higher education, which is turning out to be a combination of values-indoctrination, peer pressure, conformity, Leftist ideology, peppered with an astounding number of vague unexamined generalities. It adds up to intellectual starvation by attrition. It’s a war against the mind carried on by attempting to shape and control and limit the mind.
If you took the worst features of fake discourse and analysis and rolled them up into a ball, you would get college.
This is one reason why I wrote a basic logic course for high school students and included it in my collection, The Matrix Revealed.
From my own experience as a student, and from teaching teenage students, I discovered an encouraging fact: a little bit of logic goes a long way. Students respond. They wake up, for example, when they find out what a generality is, when they read examples, when they run them to ground, when they discover how many generalities end up in blind alleys with no factual support.
It’s as if the mind says, ‘I didn’t realize this before! I’ve been waiting for this! I want to analyze information. Here is a basic tool. I’m ready. Let’s go. I don’t want to be fooled anymore.’

“We’ve Lost An Important Regulator On Those Who Can Seriously Mess With Our Lives”

Traders have become so complacent at the lack of volatility in markets that it is no surprise that a few percentage points shifts here or there in the last few days as the world inches toward total thermonuclear disaster have shaken a few. However, as former fund manager Richard Breslow gently reminds us – this is nothing… and that could be a problem, chiding traders to “stop pretending that you care about the end of the world.”
Since the first missiles were fired across Japan last weekend in what was the most provocative North Korean move yet, only one thing has really moved…

Leaked Brexit Document Reveals UK Hardline Plan To Deter EU Immigrants

According to a document leaked by the Guardian and prepared by the Home Office, the UK has prepared a “hardline” Brexit plan according to which Britain will end the free movement of labor immediately after Brexit and introduce restrictions “to deter all but highly-skilled EU workers.” The proposal seeks to drive down the number of lower-skilled EU migrants, as well as a phased-in introduction to a new immigration system ending the right to settle in Britain for most European migrants.
While the end of free labor mobility was largely expected, the 82-page paper – marked as extremely sensitive and dated August 2017 – provides previously unreleased clarity and sets out for the first time how Britain intends to approach the controversial issue of immigration, “refocusing policy to put British workers first.”
As the document summarizes, ‘to be considered valuable to the country as a whole, immigration should benefit not just the migrants themselves but also make existing residents better off.”
Specifically, the controversial draft proposes measures to drive down the number of lower-skilled EU migrants – offering them residency for a maximum of only two years, in a document likely to cheer hardliners in the Tory party. Those in ‘high-skilled occupations’ will be granted permits to work for a longer period of three to five years. Additionally, showing a passport will be mandatory for all EU nationals wanting to enter Britain. The paper also proposes introducing a system of temporary biometric residence permits for all EU nationals coming into the UK after Brexit for more than a few months.
The Home Office paper, entitled the Border, Immigration and Citizenship System After the UK Leaves the European Union, makes clear the proposals within it have yet to be endorsed by ministers, and are ‘subject to negotiations with EU’. But, as the Guardian writes, with the help of examples and flowcharts, the document sets out the direction of Home Office thinking in one of the most controversial subjects of the Brexit debate.

Markets, Not Government, Improve Race Relations

Politically we seem to be living in some trying times. The political polarization, as captured in the mainstream news media, appears to be intensifying with even acts of destructive violence on the streets and campuses of American cities. At the same time, pictures out of Houston during and following Hurricane Harvey show empathetic assistance and cooperation between people and groups that supposedly are in heated contention with each other. How do we reconcile this?
To begin with, I am persuaded that the supposedly racial and social ‘class’ tensions that some assert is on the rise in America is not true. In fact, I would argue that in everyday interaction and association race relations are far, far better than they were, say, twenty-five years ago, and most certainly compared to fifty or seventy-five years ago.
Race Prejudices of a Few Decades Ago When I was a young boy the evening news carried the imagery of violence on the streets of some Southern cities as people marched against segregation laws and faced sometimes brutal force by law enforcement agencies directed to put down the ‘uppitiness’ of blacks and white civil rights workers insisting upon equal rights and equal treatment for all before the law.

Why Aren’t We Discussing the Things We Agree On?

The political environment since Trump’s election seems to get worse and worse by the day, as much of the American public becomes increasingly divided, embittered and downright insane. People across the political spectrum are enthusiastically fueling this destructive behavior in their varied quests to show how right they are and how hopelessly wrong everyone else is. Meanwhile, those who truly wield power in our society continue to laugh all the way to the bank.
Earlier today, I came across a prescient and powerful article written by Pamela B. Paresky in Psychology Today titled, Angry About the Election?
Although the piece was composed only a few weeks after the 2016 election, the writing was already on the wall and she identified and warned about the dangerous direction we were headed in. Here are a few choice excerpts:
Peruse any Facebook page and you’re sure to find plenty of anger and disgust there, too. Some Clinton supporters are ‘unfriending’ Trump voters. Others proclaim they are no longer speaking to friends who voted for Trump. It’s not uncommon for people to explicitly state that they have no desire or intention to ‘come together’ with nor even ‘have compassion’ for anyone who voted for Trump.
